Come Dance

Jackson and I walked back to my house after school and watch the first Ironman movie, cause I've never seen it and Jackson thinks I need to start watching marvel movies.

I think back to last year, when Ty kept trying to get me to watch Star Wars. I refused and he made a PowerPoint presentation about why I should watch it.

To this day I still haven't seen any of the Star Wars movies.

Jackson laid on my bed as I picked out an outfit to wear to the party. The contest is currently between a baby blue dress with white sneakers or a black off the shoulder dress with heels.

"Which one?" I ask holding them both up in front of me.

"Blue or black?" I add.

"Blue." Jackson replies.

"Thanks." I say putting the black dress back in my wardrobe.

"Just remember, I'm not exactly the best person to ask for fashion advice." Jackson laughs.

"Point taken. Hey, aren't you gonna get changed?" I ask.

"Why?" Jackson asks.

"Cause we're going to a party..." I say confused.

"I know. I don't think I need to change." He says gesturing to his worn out sneakers, grass stained jeans and stained t-shirt.

I give him a weird look and then he stands up and says, "Fine! I'll go home and change. I needed to bring my car over anyway." Once Jackson leaves, I walk into the bathroom.

After taking my clothes off I stare at myself in the mirror. I used to stare in hatred for ages, but today it's like I just can't be bothered hating myself.

I slowly put on the dress, socks and shoes. I quickly brush my teeth and hair, apply a small amount of makeup and then add some jewelry.

The ring Aunt Helen and Aunt Maddie got me for my 14th birthday. It has these cute vine things twirled around my birth stone.

I also put on the silver heart locket my parents bought me after they separated. On one of the inside sides there's a picture of Mum and on the other is Dad. They said that we will always be a family. Look how that turned out.

"Well look at you! You can look nice." I say as Jackson stands in front of his car. He is wearing jeans and a nice red shirt. He is probably wearing the most formal clothes he owns.

"You look smokin." He laughs as I turn around like a model.

"Well, look who's using big words." I joke.

"Get in the car." He grumbles walking over to the drivers seat.

"And what a gentleman!" I laugh as I buckle up my seatbelt.

"Why'd you change the song?" I ask after Jackson changes the Taylor Swift song to the sports radio.

"My Dad listens to sports radio." I say as he grudgedly turns the Taylor Swift song back on. In a few seconds we are both singing and dancing along to the song.

We pick a few of Jackson's friends up on the way to Rachel's house.

They all talk about some memory from freshman year while I look out the window.

As we pull up in Rachel's driveway I see someone I don't want to see.

Tyler is at the party.

I hide behind the car untill Ty and his friends are inside.

"What are you doing?" Jackson whispers behind me.

"Nothing!" I say jumping in surprise.

"Cause it looked like you were hiding from Townsend." Jackson says.

"No! I- Well... I- Lets go inside." I say walking over to the front door, dragging Jackson behind me.

"Okay!" Jackson laughs opening the front door.

The living room had a speaker that is blasting some pop song I hear all the time. The kitchen has so many empty cliche red cups that you can hardly see the countertop.

"Wanna drink?" A guy in my class asks.

"I'm good." I say walking further into the party.

I talk a bit with a few of my class mates but end up a couple hours later sitting on the couch with Jackson. He has had a few drinks but isn't even slightly tipsy. Lucky.

I have avoided alchol all night. No way am I coming home drunk tonight!

"Hey guys!" Rachel says as she staggers towards us.

"Hi. Cool party." I say looking around.

"Thank you!" She says smiling widely.

"Omg! This is my fav song! You just have to come dance with me and my friends!" Rachel exclaims as she grabs my hand and pulls me off the couch.

I look back at Jackson pleading him to help me as she pulls me away, but he just calls out, "Have fun!"

I spot Ty talking with Luke at the back of the room so grab a drink off a table I walk past and take a quick swig.

The familiar taste of alchol winds it's way down my throat. I quickly put the cup back, walking behind Rachel forcing the vomit in my stomach to stay down.

We dance with her drunk friends for at least half an hour. My feet are killing me and I don't know how to escape the tightly knit crowd.

"Hello my lady. May I have this dance?" I hear a voice ask as a slower song comes on. I almost hope it is Ty, but when I turn around Jackson's smile greets me.

"You may." I laugh as I take his hand. He leads me over to a less crowded part of the room and I place my arms around his neck and we sway to the music.

"You rescued me! Thank you." I say dramatically.

"No problem, princess." Jackson says taking one of my hands and spinning me around. I laugh and almost fall over.

"Thanks. Maybe we should take a break from dancing." I say as he extends his hand for me. We talk with a few people in my science class for a little while until I spot Ty walking this way.

I swear to god I almost have a heart attack. His beautiful eyes look staight ahead. I look over at him, daring him to look at me. He glances over at me and a soft smile emerges on his face.

I almost smile back. I want to. I should have.

But I just continue talking to my class mates. I watch as Ty shoulders slam into Jackson's as he walks past. "What the hell?" Jackson yells as Ty stops.

And this point is where a good night ends.
