I Like You

Ty's POV:
As I walk down the dull hallways of the hospital, I think about everything that has happened in the last year.

I've had to deal with the gossip and shit of Dad cheating, Mum and Dad's divorce, Dana Sue went to the hospital, Mum, Helen and Dana Sue opened their spa.

Annie kissed me while drunk, Annie's message made it's way through school, Mum and my coach started dating, Annie and I fought.

Cece and I started dating, Annie, Cece, Kyle, Gabe and I started going to mock trial, we went to Kyle's play, Kyle ran away, Annie had to take his place in mock trial, Cece was a bit mean to Annie at mock trial.

Cece asked me to Prom, Aunt Helen and Ryan broke up, Annie, Simon, Cece and I went to Prom, the Prom after party, Jackson was being a douche, Cece punched Jackson, Kyle yelled and ran out.

Then the car crash, punching Jackson, rushing to the hospital, Annie's surgery and a heart-to-heart talk with Kyle.

All-in-all a very eventful year.

As I continue thinking about everything that's happened I end up in front of the room the nurse said Annie would be in.

"Hey Ty." Helen says as she walks out of the room followed by Dana Sue and Ronnie.

"Can I go see Annie?" I ask curiously.

"You can but she just fell asleep. Don't worry though, after she was woken up she hardly said anything before she went out like a light." Dana Sue says smiling softly.

"We were just going to get coffee, would you like us to bring you some? It is going to be a long night." Aunt Helen offers polietly.

"Sure." I reply hardly paying attention to what they are saying. Helen silently pats me on the forearm, and then guides Dana Sue down the hall.

I can't imagine how hard it would be for them. Annie was always really close to Helen. And, Dana Sue and Annie have been having a hard time recently, according to Annie.

I watch Ronnie walk down a different hallway. I'm not sure what he's gonna do. I haven't seen him in quite a while. After Dana kicked him out he hasn't visited often. He was really cool when we were little. Annie told me that she misses him a lot.

As I walk through the door to the room Annie's in, my eyes search for her. Then I see her. Lying peacefully asleep on a hospital bed. I quietly pull a chair up next to her bed and hold her hand.

"God, Annie. You've scared so many people! You've put us through hell, honestly. I thought you were dead! I thought I might never see you again. And your poor Mum!" I whisper, while she sleeps.

"I was so scared, because in that moment I realised I like you! Can you believe that? It took you to nearly dying, for me to realise I like you!" I cry. I was sure I couldn't cry anymore today. Guess not.

"I like you Annie. I can't imagine how much I've hurt you. With the message and the gossip. I should have deleted that freaking message. And I should have made sure no one was around when I played it to Gabe. I should have made sure you didn't have any alchol after the baseball fundraiser! I should have been in the car with Kyle! I should be in that bed!" I confess as more tears flood my eyes.

"You did nothing to deserve this! You did nothing wrong! Everything is spiralling out of control!" I whisper. I stop talking and just sit there and cry my heart out.

After all that's happened in the past year, I let my feelings over take me.

I eventually cry myself to sleep, still holding Annie's hand. I wake up to Helen's voice waking me up.

"Sorry we toke so long." She says as she wipes the tears on my cheeks away and hands me a cup of coffee.

"Thanks." I say taking a sip. The bitter tasting coffee burns my dry mouth.

"How's our girl going?" Helen asks as she pulls up a chair beside me.

"Not sure. She hasn't woken up yet. Don't blame her though. She needs her rest." I say as I wonder how long I've been asleep.

I look down at Annie's hand still in mine and realise I don't want to let go. At least not yet.

"Ty, Cece is here." Dana Sue says to me as she walks in the room.

"Okay. I'll be back in a minute." I walk out into the hallway. I wonder how Cece found out, but then again she could have heard me yelling at Jackson.

* * *

"Hey Cece." I yell as I spot her in the empty waiting room.

"Your Mum called me and told me what happened, are Kyle and Annie alright?" She asks as she hugs me tightly.

"Yeah, they will be. Want to go say hi to Kyle?" I ask.

"I can't, sorry, my dad's waiting out front. I just came to check they were alright." She says glancing towards the exit.

"Thanks." I say softly, kissing her cheek.

"Night Ty. Keep me posted, and tell Kyle hi from me!" Cece yells as she walks out the entrance.

"Will do! Night." I say back.

As I watch her go, I don't feel any sadness about her departure. I don't feel anything towards her. She's alright, but I don't like her like I like Annie.

There's no strong connection. Two teenage friends hanging out. Not much more.

As I watch my girlfriend leave, all I can think about is a photography loving girl, lying in a hospital bed.
