Ty's POV:
While vacuuming my room, the vacuum hits something under my bed. After turning it off, I bend down to pull out a black guitar case, cloaked in a layer of dust.

I undo the latches and open it to see my old guitar.

"Ty, lunch is ready." I hear Cal say as he walks over to my open doorway.

"What's that?" He asks as I pull the guitar out of the case.

"My guitar. I haven't played in ages." I laugh, softly strumming a few chords.

"Why not?" He asks as I sigh.

"Dad told me I had to focus on baseball. That meant giving up guitar lessons."

"Know any songs?" He asks as I place it back in its case.

"A few. Mostly nursery rhymes, but I know Wonderwall. Before I quit I was learning American Pie." I explain as Katie runs past.

"Your guitar! I thought you lost it." Katie says, walking into my room.

"Well, I found it." I say.

"Can you please teach me how to play?" She asks as I smile.

"After lunch, little dinosaur." I declare as she sprints back downstairs.

* * *

"I'm going to place your fingers up here, and I want you to strum the strings." I instruct, helping Katie hold the guitar.

When she plays the chord, a giant grin  spreads across her face.

"Good job kid." I assure as I help her switch between notes.

"Look at that!" I yell as she giggles.

"Katy-did!" I hear Nana yell, opening the front door.

"Nana." Katie passes me back the guitar and runs out of my room.

I laugh, before noticing the crumpled up sheet music for American Pie in the bottom of the case.

Placing it in front of me, I adjust myself on my bed, before preparing for the first note.

I hum along to the first few notes until I notice Kyle standing at my door.

"We need to talk." He says seriously.

"What's up Kyle? You didn't drag me out here for nothing." I ask as we walk through the town square.

"I know you still like Annie." Kyle says as I sit down on one of the benchs.

"Okay, I'm not going to deny it. I like Annie. What's that got to do with anything?" I ask as Kyle shakes his head.

"Because I don't want Annie to get hurt." Kyle exclaims.

"I would never intentionally hurt her."

"Why did you kiss Cece then?" Kyle says as I scoff in disbelief.

"Really, Kyle?" I ask in astonishment.

"I'm sorry. That wasn't justified." Kyle apologises.

"No it wasn't. But I forgive you." I say as Kyle sits down next to me, while I pat him on the shoulder.

"Townsend." I see Jackson approach me.

"I have something to tell you." He states.

"I'm very popular today." I laugh, standing up.

"I've seen you and Annie hanging a lot lately." Jackson says as I shrug.

"So? None of your business."

"You're a asshole. If you so much as look at Annie wrong I'll punch you so hard, you'll be seeing stars." He threatens.

"Why do you care so much?" I ask, my voice raised.

"Cause I love her too!" He yells at me as I feel my jaw drop.

After a few moments I start to walk in the opposite direction.

"Where are you going?" Kyle asks, walking beside me.

"Going to talk to Annie." I say.

"That does not seem like a good idea." He points out as I continue walking.

"Only one I've got."
