Ty's POV:
"That was a great first date." Annie smiles when we drive into the main part of town.

"Do you want me to drop you home? Or we could go to my place and watch a movie with Kyle or something?" I suggest.

"I might let Mum have a couple more hours of peace." Annie laughs as a song plays on the radio.

She loudly and joyfully sings along. After the song has finished I applaud while she bows.

"Amazing performance." I comment as she leans over and kisses my cheek.

"Hello my dear old friend." Kyle says as he hugs Annie.

"Hello old chap." Annie replies as we laugh and head into the lounge room.

We all talk for a while before turning the tv on, which starts the argument of what to watch.

"What's wrong with baseball?" I demand offended by Kyle sighing after I suggested we watch baseball.

"It's your whole goddamn personality! I love theatre and acting but I don't talk about it 24/7! You don't have to be obsessed with something to like it." Kyle yells as I stare speechless.

"Fine then, what do you want to watch?" I ask annoyed.

"A drama could be cool." He replies.

"Yeah. That sounds nice." Annie agrees.

"No fair! Two to one." I mumble.

"Majority rules!" Kyle exclaims triumphant. Suddenly the Notebook pops up on the screen.

"No! We are not watching that!" I say as I reach for the remote.

"What? Scared your gonna cry?" Kyle teases.

"Fine then, let's watch it. I bet twenty dollars I won't cry." I say feeling cocky.

As the end credits roll I wipe the tears off my cheeks quickly.

"You owe me twenty bucks." Kyle says happily as I sigh and notice Annie asleep in my arms, her head on my chest.

"Should we wake her?" Kyle asks loudly.

"Shhhhh, let her sleep!" I hiss.

"To late." A quite voice says.

"Good going, idiot." I say as Annie sits up.

"Its okay, Kyle why don't you and I grab a snack from the fridge." Annie smiles jumping up from the couch and kissing me on the forehead.

"Want anything?" She asks as they head to the kitchen.

"Some Doritos would be great." I call out.

"Okay so you're not hungry." Kyle jokes as I laugh sarcastically.

Suddenly I hear the front door open. "That was so fun Daddy!" I hear Katie's voice say as the door closes.

"I knew you would have fun Katydid!" I hear Dad say.

"Why don't you go upstairs and I'll come up and say goodnight?" I hear Dad suggest. Shortly after I hear Katie's small feet running up the staircase

* * *

"Hey bud!" I hear Dad say as he walks towards me. I decide just to ignore him.

"Hello Ty? Anyone home?" He makes the same stupid joke he used to when I was mad at him as a kid.

This time I don't laugh, my eyes don't even leave my phone.

"Tyler, you have to talk to me. I'm your father." I hear him say.

"No I don't." I shout as I jump up and glare at him.

"I had to listen to Mum sobbing in her room after she thought we had gone to bed for weeks after you left." I yell as all the hatred I have towards him pours out.

"Katie was so upset that her Dad wasn't around anymore, she begged Mum every night for you. Kyle hardly spoke at all for two weeks!" I shout.

"I hate you!" I scream as Annie and Kyle walk in from the kitchen.

"No you don't, son." Dad states, trying to calm me down.

"But I wish I hated you." I cry as a tear crawls it's way down my cheek.

Suddenly I notice Mum in the doorway.

"I would think it best if you say goodnight to Katie and leave." Mum frowns at Dad as he awkwardly looks back at me, but I don't meet his eyes because Annie is already in front of me holding my head in her hands.

* * *

"It's okay." She says wiping the tears off my cheek.

"It's okay. He's a dick I know. But he's gone now." Annie says before standing out of the way so Mum can comfort me.

I crumple up in my Mum's arms crying like a little kid. She rubs my back as I see Annie talking in hushed voices with Kyle.

"I think you might need some nachos." Kyle says which makes me laugh.

"Sounds perfect." I say as Mum and Kyle head to the kitchen to grab out the ingredients.

"Are you okay?" Annie asks walking closer, hesitant, not sure what she should do.

"Yeah, he just gets on my nerves." I mumble.

"I know." Annie says as I grab her waist and hold her close.

"Promise you will never let me turn out like him." I whisper, scared of the idea of turning into my father.

"Ty-" Annie starts to say.

"Promise." I urge, interrupting her.

"I promise." She promises.

"What are we going to do when we go back to school on Monday?" She asks smiling.

"Make out in front of everyone." I joke as she playfully punches me in the arm.

"Ow. That really hurt." I say sarcastically, which earns me a few more play punches.

"You look soooo cute when your annoyed at me." I laugh as I wrap my arm over her shoulder and we head to the kitchen to assist Kyle and Mum with the nachos.

"I feel like a chef right now." Kyle says as he attempts to sprinkle cheese on the nachos but accidentally spills the whole bowl of cheese in one corner of the plate, so we all burst out laughing.

"I don't feel like as much of a chef now." He laughs at his mistake as Mum attempts to spread out the cheese.

I look down and smile at Annie as she nestles her head on my shoulder. Monday can wait, the present is pretty good.
