Bridesmaids

Annie's POV:
I wake up to an empty place beside me. I pull myself out of bed and into the kitchen to see Dad asleep on the couch.

Suddenly I feel my phone buzzing in my pocket.

"Hi?" I ask hopefully, not checking the caller ID, hoping it's Ty.

"Hey." Sarah says as I slump down a little.

"Hi." I say with less enthusiasm.

"You sound so happy to hear from me." Sarah laughs as I smile.

"I'm sorry. I was kinda hoping you were Ty." I sigh as Sarah gasps.

"Why?" She asks excitedly as I fill her in on last night.

"Oh my god. You guys seriously slept on the same bed and didn't even kiss." Sarah says as I drink a glass of water.

"Well, sadly I'm not Ty, but I have an idea." She says as I walk back into my room.

"What?" I ask, slightly sceptical.

"We go for lunch at Wharton's, with Raylene." She suggests.

"And, I know for a fact that Gabe was telling Ty yesterday at school about going there for lunch." Sarah says as I laugh.

"You are crazy." I roll my eyes as I open my closet.

"See you at 12." She hangs up as I laugh.

"Morning sweetheart. Who were you talking to?" Dad asks standing in my bedroom doorway.

"Just Sarah. We're going to have lunch at Wharton's with Raylene." I explain as Dad smiles.

"Well, have fun kiddo. I'm going to go over to the motel and book a room. Then I'm going on a top secret mission." Dad grins cheekily as I laugh.

"Top secret huh? Or something that will annoy Mum?" I ask as Dad shrugs.

"Lit bit of both. See you later kiddo." He kisses my cheek, walking out.

"Hey. I'm still waiting for Raylene." Sarah says as I spot her out front Wharton's. She's wearing ripped jeans and a black singlet.

I glance at my reflection in the window. I'm wearing a short teal blue dress. Spaghetti straps expose my freckled shoulders, and the dress cuts off around my mid-thigh.

I quickly pull my hair into a low bun as Sarah rolls her eyes.

"How long does it take to walk four blocks?" Sarah mutters, looking around until she spots Raylene, who is wearing a baby blue jumpsuit with tiny pastel pink flowers.

"Took you long enough." Sarah says as Raylene pulls me into a hug.

"You look nice." I smile as she looks me up and down.

"So do you. I love your dress." She complements.

"Thank-" I start to say as Sarah grabs our hands.

"Okay, come on. We are literally just walking inside and sitting down. Not that hard." Sarah grumbles as we walk inside and we try to find a table.

While struggling to find an empty table, I feel a hand grab onto my arm. Swiftly turning around, I ready my fist to punch, only to see Ty.

"Jez, didn't know that's how you greeted people now." He laughs, as I notice his eyes quickly gravitate across my body.

"You clean up very nicely." He says as I feel myself blush.

"Do you guys want to sit with us? We've got extra seats." Ty offers.
