Ty's POV:
I silently walk beside Kyle as we walk home from Wharton's, leaves rustling under our shoes, the sky dark after a day hanging out at Wharton's with Annie.

"You wanna talk or something?" I ask trying to break the ice.

"Sure." Kyle replies.

"Anything in particular?" I ask, trying my best to start a conversation.

"Dad has been nice lately. Apparently you're not taking his calls." Kyle says.

"I'm not talking about him." I state.

"How are you awful to anyone who cares about you? He just wants to try fix what happened." Kyle yells as we end up at our house.

"Hey! Don't talk about that traitor to me! He abandoned us, for that homewrecker!" I yell, full of all the anger and resentment I have towards our father.

I don't actually think Noreen's a homewrecker. She seems nice, and doesn't deserve how Dad treated her. I'm just angry at him.

"Don't speak about her that way! She's tried so hard to connect with you! Just like Annie! You try to push everyone away!" Kyle yells as I unlock the front door.

"Oi! That's low, bringing Annie into this, even for you!" I yell back slaming the front door shut.

"Well, guess I learnt from the best. That fight with Jackson? Doesn't what I say ring any bells?" Kyle questions glaring at me.

"You little-" I snare grabbing his shirt.

"Tyler!" I hear Mum yell, from the top of the stairs.

"Living room. Now." Mum growls.

* * *

As we sit down onto the couch, Mum starts yelling. "What the hell was that about?"

"Nothing, just got into a disagreement." Kyle replies quickly.

"Suck up." I mutter under my breath just loud enough for Kyle to hear.

"Really? You wanna go there?" Kyle asks, voice rising.

"Oh, I can go there, trust me-" I start to say.

"Enough!" Mum screams, which silences the whole house.

"I have had enough of this. Explain now what that was about or Lord help me you will both be grounded till the end of time itself." Mum demands.

"Ty's not talking to Dad." Kyle states, glaring at me then turning to Mum.

"Good job, snitch." I mumble.

* * *

"Ty, I know you and your father have your differences, but he's still your Dad." Mum says quietly placing a hand on my cheek.

"How can you say that? He abandoned us and destroyed this family!" I yell angrily, moving away from her hand.

"Tyler. I was angry at him for so long, wondering what I did wrong. It's not a good feeling to hang on to."

"But I talked, and opened up to people who care. I have forgiven him. I haven't forgotten, but I have forgiven him." Mum explains, a shadow of pain reflected in her eyes.

"I don't want to see you continuously overwhelmed with this anger and guilt." Mum says placing a hand on my cheek again.

"Ty, it's not your fault he left us." Mum whispers as we both start crying.

"B-but... ma-maybe I could- should have... been better- a better son." I cry as Mum shakes her head.

"It was not your fault. It wasn't anyone's fault about what happened. You father is no where near perfect." Mum says as she sits inbetween us and Kyle rests his head on her shoulder.

"You have to forgive him, honey. Or it's gonna eat you alive." Mum states calmly, trying to reach out to me as I stand up.

"I will never ever forgive him!" I fight, tears stinging my eyes.

"Tyler-" Mum sighs as I race up the stairs and slam my bedroom door, breaking down in tears as I punch the wall over and over until I have no strength left.

* * *

My phone starts ringing as I hold it to my ear. "Can you come over, please. I need to talk to someone." I say, my voice cracking in the middle of the sentence as I begin to cry again.

"Okay." And that's all I need to hear.
