"(Y/n)!"

You jumped up and screamed from your slumber before whipping your head to the side. "Martha!" Your call was more of a whine than an annoyance, and the blonde simply stifled a laugh. "We have a new mission today!" She beamed, leaning onto your bed with a smile. Her happy aura was contagious as you also smiled. In fact you were quite excited.

You and Martha were members of the church in your town, and actually lived there. You were both trained since a young age to fulfill your jobs. Which was... sort of hard to explain. There was magic in this world, and not all of it was good. Your jobs were to stop any nearby rituals or anything of sort that involved malicious intent, or would harm the people in your town.

The girl sat up from your bed and dusted off her black uniform. She must've been so excited for a duo mission with you that she practically jumped into her clothes. "Well well? Get ready so we can hurry out!" She quickly sped off so you could change in an instant, so you got ready as quick as you could and jumped out of your room.

"Where are we going even?" You asked the blonde as you followed her out of the church. "Two people are said to be sacrificed, so we just need to go prevent that, shouldn't be to hard! In and out!" She smiled and you smiled back mimicking her words. "In and out!"

You were gasping for air with the blonde next to you running for your lives. "Is it so important- they need to kill us?!" You shouted to Martha who was holding a girl with horns dressed in white. "W- we have to get back to the church, they c- can't enter the town or it'll break treaty's!"

"Excuse me." A vibrating voice from under your arm called for your attention and you looked down to see the boy dressed in white you had just taken looking up at you with a smile. "Where are we headed?" He asked as if he was on some sort of adventure, despite nearly being sacrificed with the horned girl moments earlier.

"Please!" You said, looking back ahead so you wouldn't trip on anything. "Wait until we're out of danger to ask questions!" The rustling of bushes behind you was discomforting to say the least, and you knew at this rate they would catch up. "Are we trying to get away?" The girl Martha carried asked, and the blonde yelled a begrudged 'yes'. "Okie dokie!" The girl took her hands and waved them under your friends feet only for her to fall through a portal. And with a Yelp that was cut off as soon as it closed, you gaped and nearly felt offended. "Wh- what about me!?"

Not to be rude, but the man in your arms was starting to weigh down on you. And with your friend gone, the attention was directed at you and him. "I've never done this before!" He said as if he was giddy. You frowned with your bad luck, and you guessed the man looked up at you to see your distress, before quickly pointing to the left. "That way, there's an abandoned village. I can see it."

You looked where he pointed and seen nothing but trees and foliage, but you had no better idea and ran through the heavy flora, trusting him as at this point you did not trust yourself. But after a minute or so, you did see wreckage of an old building that you quickly ran to, hopping through one of the shattered windows and ducking below attempting to steady your breaths. You peered over to the boy.

His face stayed in a smile as he looked up at your heaving form. "It's really you..." You looked up in confusion before he seemed to correct himself. "Thanks for saving me." It was an honest and grateful thanks, yet you wished he could read the room a little better. "W-we aren't even out of here yet!" You did your best to converse as you could feel your lungs heave. "Yes but if we get caught anyways, you still tried to save me." What's wrong with this guy!????

"Please! Hold your thanks for after you're actually safe!" You whisper yelled, hearing his constant blabbering and nonchalant face as if he wasn't just going to be sacrificed. "Your friend back there was pretty confident, I'm sure we'll make it." He beamed as he looked forward, arms still wrapped around your neck.
