You kicked your feet violently as you were dragged through the dust and dirt. Men held you by your arms as they struggled to pull you. Where were they pulling you? To a temple, a shrine if you will. But you weren't some measly little girl, so you weren't making it easy. You were gonna put up a fight until-! "Quit squirming! Dead or alive you'll be a sacrifice." -that happened...
You went limp to the sight of a large dagger and let them pull you. You were going to be a sacrifice. An offering, to a god. As much as the idea wasn't on your to-do list, you couldn't quite refuse. Your captors had this planned since a few years ago. You were perfect, in their words.
So you were dragged up smooth granite stairs and entered a large domain, the footsteps of the men echoing against the pillars and walls. It was actually pretty nice in here. You were never one to really visit the temples of gods, but this place wasn't too shabby. Until you were thrown onto the ground. "Owww-!" You said, profusely exaggerating your annoyance.
However none of them answered you, and quietly faced an alter piled with many fruits and bunches of golden items. Whether it be chalices or jewelry, it was scattered about everywhere. You would've been intrigued, but you couldn't help the fear creep onto your shoulders.
As an offering, you were usually killed right? Or given to be used in anyway by the receiver. So you couldn't help the slight sweat that dropped down your face as you now kneeled before the alter. Gods, no matter how ruthless or kind they were, wanted to be feared. They could snap away your good life away in a moments notice, and they wanted everyone to know. "Pharaoh." One of the men started, a clear nervousness in his voice. He knelt on one knee, and lowered his head, the others mimicking him. "We've brought you an offering, a ripe female, in her prime. She's considered a gem amongst all of the cities and towns."
RIPE!? Despite the seriousness of the situation you couldn't help but hope that was a compliment. It must've been right? Otherwise they wouldn't have said it so blatantly. But what did it mean? Oh gods... was he gonna-!"I won't eat you, woman."
A cold chill ran up your neck like a ghost just went through your body and you shivered. The deep and husky voice that echoed in your head chuckled, and before you knew it someone was sitting lazily on the throne in front of you. You dared raise your head, but lowered it as soon as you caught eyes. They were terrifyingly red.
"Ph-pharaoh, we've brought an offering to you."
Oh right, maybe you should've been more worried about this whole thing. Your heart thumped loudly in your chest, so hard you believed everyone could hear it. "What is it?"
You had a pretty good feeling this guy knew you were the offering, but his question still sent chills down your spine. He didn't want to guess, he wanted to be told, and given an answer just like that. "This girl, she-."
"I already know!"
The man shut up, and you would've smiled smugly had you been in a less awful situation. The shout practically shook the temple and it ringed in your ears. "I'm asking what you want." You were surprised how quickly this guy's attitude could change. "H-how do you-!"
"I'm cursed. You think people genuinely want to worship me out of the good of their hearts? There's always a catch to you people who come here. So what do you want?"
His voice near the end shook everyone to the core. He didn't like repeating himself obviously. "W-we want this man dead. His business has been towering over ours for years!" You almost laughed. But the thought that you were being sacrificed for some measly business drama was practically degrading. They could've at least asked for a golden castle, you thought you were worth wayyy more.
