Child Au because innocent puppy love is cute :)
"Alright class! Since we've finished early, why don't we play a game?" The teacher cooed to her precious students. Everyone cheered, and you were excited for this, any games besides school work was amazingly fun! "This is gonna be so much fun, isn't it!?" You turned to your friend Emma and she smiled. "Whatever it is I'm sure you'll lose (Y/n)!" Your sharp eyes turned to you other friend, Naib. Wearing his brown shorts, knee high socks and cap, with a smug look on his face. He was always teasing you, calling you short, and flaunting when he'd score higher than you on a test. "Whatever, if you win, you probably cheated!" The boy pouted and was about to retaliate before Miss Nightingale spoke up again.
"But today, we have a new student!" Everyone calmed down and watched the teacher walk to the door. A second later she brought in a boy with silver hair. Your eyes widened when you seen his abnormal hair color but it was quite beautiful in your opinion. His shy silver eyes kept on the floor as he walked to the front of the room. "Class, this is Aesop Carl! He'll be your new classmate starting today, so treat him well! Or I'll bring Mr. Desaulnier to make sure you all do work with no taking. Friends are what get you through life after all! " Everyone looked at him, waiting for him to make eye contact or something, but to no avail. Being sat in the front of the class, you smiled and leaned over your desk. "Hello." You said As friendly as humanly possible.
He looked up, just a tad but it was enough to make eye contact. Your warming smile took him back but he gave a almost visible smile back. "Well since it appears (Y/n) is keen on making friends with you, why don't you sit next to her?" You and the silver haired male gave your teacher confused looks. The seats next to you were already taken, by Naib and Emma.
"B-But we're already sitting next to her!" Naib explained, only receiving a small giggle from Miss Nightingale. "Well Naib, could you be a dear and sit next to William instead?" The tone in her voice made the question seem more of a comment, as the brunette hummed in reply, and started to leave his seat.
Aesop hesitantly walked to the now open seat next to you and placed a tiny box on the desk. Emma has one similar but hers had stickers all over, while his was plain black with silver lining. "All right, who wants to be it?" Kids raised there hands, but as she picked and told the instructions, you used the time to bond with your new found friend.
"My names (Y/n), nice to meet you." You said to him. He seemed surprised by your sudden gesture as you threw your hand out to him. "I-I'm Aesop, nice to meet you too." He shook your hand, with not much confidence at that. "What's in that box?" You said pointing to it. He turned to you but his eyes made sure to shift to the box from you in a respectful manner. "My mom made my lunch, that's where I keep it." You smiled. "We should share our lunches, my mom makes mine too! She's really good at it, I hope she makes them forever and ever."
Aesop nodded, but you seen a hesitation on his face. "What's the matter?" You asked, leaning over to him. "M-my mom is si-" "Alright now, lets play the game! Everyone heads down." Miss Nightingale had no idea you both were about to have a deep conversation but you both listened. A quick glance before your head was down, you got a look at the candidates. Emma, Naib, Norton, and Patricia.
We lowered our heads and the lights were turned off. A tap on your head was light and gentle, almost affectionate. Emma. You said to yourself. As soon as it began, it was over. "All right everyone, stand up please if you were tapped." You did as instructed and stood up along with a few others. "Okay, Eli pick who think chose you." The boy thought for a moment. "Emma?" He said. FOOL SHE TAPPED ME! You thought to yourself. And as you expected, she didn't.
He sat down and sighed. "Vera, you next." She put her hand on her chin proudly. "I know I'm irresistible but I'm not available, Naib." She flaunted her hair and smirked. "I wouldn't step five feet near you or touch you with a 10 foot pole." He said blatantly. She huffed and sat down with a red flush on her face.
Two people left standing, you were totally gonna get this one. "Okay (Y/n), your tur-!" "Emma!" You said proudly. You waited for her nod but it never came. "I picked Emily." She said, nervously fidgeting with her fingers. You looked at the four people standing in confusion before you locked eyes with- "It was me!" Naib said, quickly looking out of the window. You sat down in defeat, but before another game could start, it was lunch.
All of the kids grabbed their bags and ran outside into the sun. Some didn't eat, and instead played around. After all, we would go home after this, so they could wait some minutes before eating. "(Y-y/n)." You looked behind you and seen Aesop grabbed onto your sleeve, Ah that's right. "Come with me! There's a super great spot for eating I know of!" You grabbed his hand and dragged him along.
And there you were, eating your lunch with the silver haired boy sitting in the sunlight on the warm grass. Laughter echoed from over the fields, along with the tweets of birds. "Uwahhh that looks good, Aesop!" He was surprised to your sudden outburst but smiled wearily. "They're just raspberry's (Y/n)." He said calmly. He picked one up and handed it to you which you gladly took. It was amazingly sweet. "Your moms good at lunches!" He smiled again, but stopped early. "(Y/n), about earlier, I wan gonna tell you my mom is sick."
You turned to him and frowned. "She'll just get better won't she?" Aesop shrugged and you could feel the depression just waving off from him. So you got on your knees and 'walked' over to him and hugged him. "All sickness goes away right? When have you ever died from being sick?" Your mother had kept your innocence quite well, never telling you anything that could make you sad or question life.
But the boy didn't seem easily swayed. It was as if, he was older. Like he was forced to grow up quicker than other kids. "Hey you! Get away from her!" You looked up and seen Naib running full force at the both of you and you jumped in shock. "Wait wait! Why?" He stopped right in front of you, Emma trailing behind, out of breath. "Because- He's jealous-!" Emma said and received a small attack from the brunette boy. "Why you- n-no I'm not!" You stood up and helped Aesop up as well. "Why then?"
Naib's eyes traveled to your interlocked hands and threw a fit. "B-because I- I don't know!" All of a sudden he took your free hand and held it to his chest, butterfly's in your stomach and Emma watching intently. "I don't know how to describe it- you're- you're like- ... Christmas morning." He was serious as can be as he looked dead in your eyes. You? Like Christmas morning? Christmas morning was the best morning ever! You wouldn't trade it for anything! ... was he implying- "(Y/n)." You turned your head to Aesop who had squeezed your hand tight as soon as Naib had grabbed your free one. "I like you."
Uwoahhh he really was some kind of adult kid! He said that with no hesitation or stutter. "Wh-what!?" Naib complained and pulled your wrist to him. "I like like her, so HAH!"Aesop gave a stern look and gently tugged you back to him. "Don't pull her so roughly, you could hurt her!"
"(Y/n)! (Y/n)! What are you gonna do?" Emma eagerly watched from the sidelines to your dismay. You've never had a confession given to you, but you never expected one from Naib. Let alone a kid you just met. "I- I'm not-!" A bell ringing in the distance caught everyone's attention. "Come now class! Time to pack up!" Miss Nightingale called fat and wide for the kids. "Come (Y/n)." Aesop walked you towards the school house, holding both your lunches.
Naib ran to your other side and held your other hand, making sure to squish against you. It was as if that was a sign he was closer to you. And he began to flaunt his friendship with you of 5 years. "(Y/n), why don't you come to my house for a sleep over! We can go to the ice cream shop, and I'll even buy your favorite ice cream."
The silver haired boy tried to ignore the convo you two were having, but the fact that the brunette knew more facts about you than himself, was discouraging. "Or she could come with me to my home and meet my mother. She'll give us more raspberries!" They knew the way to a woman's heart, that's for sure. Food.
Your walk back with the boys was full of bribes and snappy remarks as you only stayed neutral. You didn't really know who you liked more. Sure Naib was a big bully sometimes, but he really did care about you, and when he did he was a big gushy love bug. You had just met Aesop, but could tell right off the bat he was perfect, manners, kindness, and he offered bunches of food his mother would make.
Though your heart fluttered for each of them that day, no one could make it feel the same, when you moved away.
