When you were scared, you had a habit of grabbing the closest person to you and latching on for dear life. Of course this lead you to some losses in matches. You couldn't help but freeze up until out of danger which very often wasn't the case.
So you wondered why oh why were you stuck decoding with the prospector, in a match where the survivors could choose who played. How on earth did you end up here.
"Stay focused."
The deep grumble on the side of you made you nearly jump out of your skin. Norton was friendly when he wanted to be, and cold just as often. He seemed to be so open, but at the same time keep so many secrets. A man you didn't trust to be exact, and one you wouldn't mind being targeted. He put you off, made you weary, when in reality his presence should be anything else but that. "Sorry.." You said. The last thing you'd want is to be on his bad side, he was already scary enough when being neutral in matches. You believed he only cared about his teammates for the win, and as soon as it was over, so be it what happens to them.
He was just that quiet, that he came off as eerie.
"Take this over for me?" You jumped and looked up, his bored eyes already looking at you. "Oh, yeah sure." But before he could even leave, a flash nearly blinded you, centered on the cipher. You both knew the hunter teleported, yet one of you could not move. You stood in shock, and the prospector nearly ran off if not for looking back at your stunned form. "Are you kidding?" He hissed under his breath and ran back, grabbing you by your hips and tossing you over his shoulder as you began to be chased.
You unknowingly grabbed onto his shirt, but he was ever so aware. The amount of strength and desperation in your grip was beyond him, how a seemingly frail girl could hold onto something so harshly. But he focused on his footing and whereabouts, after all the Sculptor was right behind you both. You dreaded Norton carrying you, and thankfully after Emily was rescued from her chair, she stopped. Her main priority was her healing, and so she huffed and turned on her way to hunt for her.
The man stared at the white girls chair as she left, before reaching up to your waist to let you down. However it was only an inch he moved your hips before realizing you were glued to him. "(Y/n)-!" He shouted gruffly, kneeling down to rest. Not that you were heavy, but he didn't want to risk you falling from up there and hurting yourself.
"Can't you let go already?"
You only held him, tightly. "Sorry-..." You said, managing to loosen your grip second by second, before all you grabbed were his arms. "It's okay." He said, soft as you'd ever heard him, seeing as you couldn't let go. "Let's stick together... please?" You couldn't look up, afraid to see a face of annoyance. You felt him staring at you, as if waiting for you to look up, but you knew better than anyone that would not be happening.
He sighed, and it felt like he sighed for hours. "Fine, but you can't latch onto me like this." He raised his arm to see your own arms rise in the process, showing how if he were to so much as start running he'd probably end up dragging you around like a rag doll. "O-okay..."
He waited for you to let go, but it never happened. "Hey- c'mon!" He shook his arm and you had no choice to shakily let go, and while he thought you'd simply stick close behind as he turned, he felt your small hand quickly grab his. He had to stop mid step which made you bump into him from the sudden halt. You rubbed your nose with your free hand as it ached for a moment but looked up to see him peering over his shoulder at you.
How frightening, you were sure he was just trying to scare you off of him, but you only stared back. With fear of course, but your hand latched onto his even tighter than before. "It's worse- let go."
"I cant."
He dragged you in front of him, pulling his hand to his face and his other trying to wrap around your own to pry off. He quickly found out it wouldn't work, not without snapping your poor fingers in half. "Anywhere else, I need my hands to decode." He grew irritated and you could feel it. You nodded, and looked him up and down, walking around him to find a place to hold onto, something that wasn't a nuisance to him. He shifted by your gaze, maybe never expecting you to examine him like this.
