☁︎ Protection - Eli x Reader

Running, heaving, stumbling. That was all you were doing. You were currently in a match against the Photographer who had detention. You were lucky enough that Emily untied you after the sirens had gone off, but now you were in a tight spot.

You've been kiting for what felt like an hour but was probably 10 minutes. You couldn't believe you even lasts this long. Though finally after a stun in the middle of the map, you made a break for the the exit gate. Eli had yelled it was open 6 minutes ago but you were too busy to go there, too far.

You seen the open gate and Emily along with Eli and Helena waiting for you. You smiled at the thought of them waiting for you, but frowned after you told them to leave you multiple times. Your legs were about to give in, and you were still a small distance away but seeing them made you push through. "I've got you~." You heard a whisper so close to your ear your body instinctively whipped an arm around.

BAM

You looked behind you and wheezed in. You had accidentally whacked your hunter in the nose as he held it and blood dropped through his hand. You got very nervous looks from your teammates as they sweated profusely.
"I-I'm so sorry! Y-you were just so close to me an-!" He raised his sword and swung it with all his anger that you stumbled back and waited for the blow, eyes closed. However it never came as you were instantly lifted from the ground and heard a bird cry. You opened your eyes which met Eli. He picked you up in his arms and carried you to the gate. Emily and Helena backing up til they were probably half way to the manor. Being so scared you just grabbed onto him as tight as you could, your small fingers grasping the cloth of his hoodie, and squeezing him for protection.

Your eyes were shut so tight, he had to shake them open. "(Y-y/n)- are you alright-?" He breathed heavily, still carrying you. You looked up at him and nodded, his owl worn out on his shoulder. You must've been heavy. "S-sorry." You said, trying to set your legs down. However when he said it was fine and you declined, the moment you put weight on your ankle, you started falling. But Eli caught you in his arms, picking you up again. "I'm fine, you can't walk. Let me help you." He said. He pulled his mask down to view his beautiful blue eyes. You were enthralled by them, and he didn't mind you staring. He enjoyed it very much actually, he held back a smirk with the energy he had.

He admired your (e/c) eyes in return. As he walked you back, you had finally come to your senses and look away. "Thank you for helping me. You wouldn't have gotten out without your help." You smiled and he smiled back, his eyes scanning your features.

"You're so beautiful." He blurted without thinking. However his expression didn't falter, and only your face seemed to heat up. "You too-! Well- no I mean- you're handsome..." You stuttered. He chuckled at you, and before you knew it you were both at the manor doors. He opened them and walked in. You were greeted by a worried Emily who hurried you both to her room.

"You both play so recklessly! You should rest for a few days. No matches for a week!" She rambled on and on all while taking care of your wounds. She ran out of bandages and left to get more, telling us to stay seated. You obeyed. She was a Doctor after all. That is until you felt a heavy weight on your left shoulder. "Eugh-!" Eli leaned all his weight onto your shoulder til he had fallen on top of you. "E-Eli! I can't move!" He didn't budge though. "Doctors orders to not move anyways. Just lay with me. I'm tired." He snuggled into your chest and wrapped his arms around you. You didn't say anything, thinking of it as a mere sign of friendship. He drifted off to the sound of your slightly fast heart beat. While you rubbed circles on his back and ruffled his hair. He fell right to sleep with you in his arms. He was protecting you, and that made him feel good. He promised no one would get through the protection he had for you. Ever.
