You guys are really into angst- very sad stuff. There was a group of people who seen this as a good ending with Eli AND NAIB and I'm sorry but this is not that qwq

You'll read the more realistic outcome of the two if Eli did end up gaining his memory back. Naturally humans move on with enough time and care, therefore your feelings for Eli will have been replaced with the love you've invented with Naib. Eli will be left alone without you.

You sat in the lounge, lifeless as usual. Though whenever someone would pass by you'd give them a friendly smile. You did not want anyone to know how broken you were.

It had been a few months since your official parting with Eli, even Poppo was learning that Fiona was Eli's new lover. That never stopped the feathered creature from loving you though. In the end, Emily was right. Everyone moving on was better, and you could feel the tension slowly dissipate as days turned into weeks.

Of course you still missed Eli, his warm embrace and loving words. But his words were no longer meant for you, instead for a horned girl. You and Fiona were on decent terms. You did not repel each other, and you were not as close as before. You still couldn't comprehend how she tried to help you in your time of need, and ended up your greatest enemy. But you had to let it go. For the sake of everyone, and especially yourself.

In the end, you learned that being happy was more important then trying to reinvent a love that had died out... but you still missed the feeling of being loved by someone dear. What happened to you, was such a rare circumstance, no one had such knowledge of the event on how to comfort you.

Everyone tried to make you happy as they could, even with your fake smile. However, nothing ever truly worked. So, you were left to sit and wait out the pain, til eventually your feelings for Eli would disintegrate. But you felt like that would take a very long time. Unless you were blessed with a miracle, you would be in this limbo state for a while. You... wanted a miracle.

"Mopey."

A deep voice and dip of the couch you were on yanked you from your sad thoughts. Instantly you smiled and turned to your new visitor. "Oh, hello Naib... mopey?" You dared ask, pushing the idea that you were completely fine. You gave him a friendly look of playful banter, but he couldn't help but feel your off putting energy. He knew you were not happy.

"Yeah, mopey. That's what I'm calling you from now on since all you do is mope around." He huffed and looked away, like your face was a stab in the heart. At his turn away from you, you took the chance to pout. He knew? How... "Naib..." The shallow call of his name made him turn around.

However when he fully turned he did not expect to see your tear stained face. His eyes widened as you looked up to him. "Was I a bad lover? Is that why he didn't remember me?" Instantly the Mercenary's posture was stiff and he leaned over to you. "N-no! I'm sure you were a great lover! J-just... things happen, even if they suck, it's life." He seemed reserved to himself after that. As if telling you to face reality was a sin.

"You don't even know..." You placed your head into your knees. Although you knew he was right, and you would have to face this head on, you didn't like it. You didn't want to even have these memories. If only you could just blackout this entirety of you and Eli from your mind... but that'd be impossible. Maybe you should slam your head up against a wall or something.

Naib sat by you silently. Yes, words of comfort would be appreciated but you knew Naib wasn't the soft type. Sitting here with you was already too mushy for him, but he did it anyway. Just for you. You sighed at his behavior, and fell over to lean on him. Just a small appreciation for what he was doing. He did... make you feel better.
