The host of the manor decided to pull matches for a few days. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Friday a ball was being held and we had those days to prepare it and ourselves. However, we were slightly discouraged to hear all the hunters would also be attending.
Some were anxious, some were annoyed. I was nervous. Is survivors were told not to interact with the Hunters and to never go on their side of the manor which was separated form our half by a long hallway.
We had the occasional spare for the last Survivor, but during such, no words were had ever been exchanged. Had the host changed their mind? Nonetheless, we were all given our own outfits. The boys had tuxes according to their personality, and colored ties resembling their everyday match outfits.
Us girls were given dresses according to our style. My dress was cut to mid thigh, with black tights. It was (F/C) with a black bow tied around the wait and poofed out in the back. My heels were black with a small (F/C) bow on the back of the heel. I was even given a bow to put into my hair. It was a nice outfit. Not to eye-catching, not to dull, and it fit my body like a glove.
On Thursday, everyone had gotten a little more confident. People were picking partners already. Eli offered to be my partner but I could tell Fiona was dying to dance with him so I kindly refused and put in a good word for the horned girl.
However about ten minutes later, I was starting to regret sending Eli off. Everyone had someone... everyone but me. I would've had someone if people hadn't got so desperate. Tracy blurted out she was taking her dummy. Freddy and Kreacher were only a pair not to be alone, the idea came from Emma. The night would probably end in an argument with those two.
I was pitied for a moment or two before I said I was fine, and didn't need a partner. So for the remainder of the day, the girls practiced their make-up and dancing. I practiced with them to keep the fact I didn't have a partner out of my mind as we all laughed when one of us fell. However the idea of sitting alone the entire night was locked into the back of my mind. Afterwards we all fell asleep in Vera's room after our little dance exercise.
☁︎ _ Morning _ ☁︎
All we did til we were called to the ball room was eat and chat. Naib even offered to exchange Martha for me which made her a bit peeved. I declined though, knowing it was a joke and not to make Martha anymore bothered. At last, we were called.
We all walked into the large Ballroom and were greeted with well dressed hunters. It was odd seeing them all so eloquently dressed and have loosened up with smiles on their faces.
Though as we scanned them, they also scanned us, an my (E/C) eyes caught bright blue ones. I was so lost in them I didn't even think about the fact he was starring so intensely at me. They were just so calming. Like a blue sky, we don't see those often, so I couldn't help myself. I don't remember how long it lasted before I was given a shake on my arm. My eyes widened and I flushed a bright red before looking down.
Emma was the one who pulled me from my trance. I noticed half of us Survivors already dancing together on the shiny floor. A very large and loud record player was all the Host could get for us. "What are you doing (Y/n)!? Come look at all these sweets!" She pulled you away from your flushed posture and to the table of food. She and everyone else knew your love of sweets. She skipped around the table cheering and stuffing her face with frosting and such. Everyone had danced at least once with their partner, however I was still sitting, tired and kinda depressed. Everyone dancing tried convincing me to dance up with them, but by myself I'd look silly.
"Attention everyone!" I looked up to the Geisha holding a thin glass of wine probably. A few of the guys are already wasted like Kreacher, however some still held their gentlemanly appearance like Eli. I turned my attention back to the raven haired woman. "This will be the last dance of the night, so grab your partner and dance away!" She through her glass up with a smile before going to her own partner. We all had gotten along surprisingly well, the next match would be difficult for whoever would be picked.
I watched the sober pairs go to the dance floor and prepare their positions. However Michiko didn't start the music as quick as the many times before this night. Seen her eyes glance over to me, realizing she must've knew I hadn't dance at all tonight. Thinking of it even put me down. That was until I see a figure walk in front of my view. My eyes curiously slid up to lock with the familiar sky blue ones I seen earlier.
"Hello my dear, may I ask you to dance with me?" He placed one hand behind his back, the other stretched out to me. I flushed a bright pink I could only hope wasn't too visible. My eyes shifted from his hand to his oceanic ones, until I felt my hand unconsciously fall into his cold one.
He smiled a bit wider, happynwith my action as he pulled me out of my seat ever so softly. Eyes flashed our way out of pure astonishment, the the Geisha seemed please. The attention was getting me a bit axioms so I avoided eye contact and continued out walk onto the dance floor. A Survivor and a Hunter? No wonder they were all staring. However when he held out his hands and put one on my wait, I felt very calm. His grip was subtle, yet right enough to not let me go. I put my hand on his shoulder and smiled.
The Geisha started the beautiful music, it sounded like it was for Waltz. Everyone moved with it, and this Hunter could tell I was a bit uncomfortable with my dancing skills, so he lead me with his grasp on me and his strength to push the both of us forward. He held me close and tight to make sure I wouldn't falter. Our chests pressed together and my face- I hope it wasn't as red as it felt. He- oh wait, I never asked for his name.
"Um, pardon, but may I ask your name?" I asked gently as we kept dancing. "Ah, my apologies dear, it's Joseph." He said cheerfully. I smiled in return. "What a nice name!" He chuckled before lifting me quickly in tune with the music. I had never been so high, Sure the guys would lift us girls up to goof off and startle us but the Hunters were much taller so I was amazed with how high he lifted me and how easy he did it. "Uwahh~!" I had never been so high, besides a rocket chair, but I'm too busy screaming my head off with my eyes shut tight that I never see anything. Jospeh placed me back down, happy with my smiling face. He must've seen how unhappy I was all night. "Well, what's your name dear? I bet it's much nicer." He spun me around and held me close to him, my back against his chest. "It's (Y/n)." He twirled me out, our hands locked together stopping me from spinning out of control. "I told you. A lovely name, one for a goddess!" He chirped and I blushed with a stupid grin on my face. We went back to our first position, and the music came to a stop, I wish it didn't though.
We continue looking at each other before the Geisha called out. "That's the end of the ball everyone! I hope you enjoyed yourselves. Me and Jack will take care of cleaning up." Everyone cheered, some offering to stay and help. I pouted though. "W-will I get to see you again? Besides a match?" I asked a bit worried, and also seemed upset. "Well in your garden is a loose panel, of you want to you could-." "Yes! Defiantly will!" I said a bit too enthusiastically. He seemed surprised but it softened into a smile. "Then tomorrow at 6pm?" I nodded vigorously, and he gave a chuckle in return. "Until then, my dear (Y/n)." He bent down and kissed one of my hands before thanking me for the dance and walking away. "(Y/n)! You didn't tell me you and that Hunter were a thingy!" Emma shouted coming up and shaking you very hard. Everyone looked at you two, most smiling, other looking at Emma's crazy action and going up to stop her from shaking you to death. You smiled and thanked them, before your mind went to Joseph's words.
So tomorrow at 6.
