Memories. All the memories you had with him, meant nothing.
"Eli!" Your voice shouted to him from the halls as you jumped on his back. "Ah- Hello (Y/n)!" He smiled which you returned. "Eli, I was thinking we could make cookies tonight for everyone since they worked so hard in the 2v8! It'll be a parting gift since we leave the manor tomorrow!" You let go of him but stuck close. Eli was a nice boy, forever and always. That must have been why you were so in love with him. "That's a lovely idea, (Y/n)." He grabbed your hand and led you to the kitchen. You'd have an hour or two before they came back and that was plenty.
"Hey hey, what kind of cookies should they be?" You asked looking over his shoulder at the options. "We have more chocolate chips, so that'd be a good choice." You agreed and started to make doe. Eli took his blindfold off to see better and went to pull out all of the other things you'd need. In the middle of your baking you seen Eli's owl come and land on the counter. "Hello little owl. Want a little snack?" Or hooed back at you, and you took that as a yes.
You pushed yourself up onto the counter and opened the covert. "(Y/n), what are you doing?" You looked back and seen Eli walking up behind you. "I'm- ah-!" But when you did look, you lost your balance and fell. Except you didn't touch the ground. You were warm and secure. Eli had caught you. "Are you okay?!" You cowered in his arms as heat rose to your face. "I-I'm fine, thank you." His worried expression turned to a smile. "I'm glad you're okay. What were you doing up there anyway?" He placed you down gently and you realized you had grabbed the crackers like you wanted. You turned to him and held up the bag. "I was gonna feed your owl." You smiled wearily as that was a silly thing to almost fall and die for. Though his face had an look of shock before he lightly laughed. "Oh (Y/n), you don't need to feed her anything. She's spoiled as is." He chuckled as he picked up the bird in his arms but you pouted. "Please! I really wanna feed her! She deserves it for all the hits she's taken after all these years!"
He gave you a look of disbelief and switched it to a smile and pat your head. "Alright." You smile cheerfully and bent down to the owl. "Here little one." You gave the little bird small amounts that you broke into pieces. He was happy at how kind you were to his friend. Despite the many hits the owl took for other Survivors, no one appreciated it more then you. "Here, one for you too!" His thoughts were interrupted when you held a cracker near his mouth. Your bright eyes were hard to not stare at, as he looked at the snack then you.
He opened his mouth, hands holding the owl, and you put it in only half way so he could take a bite. He did and you took the other half to his surprise. "Now let's continue the cookies!" You hopped off to the oven, placing the pan inside, Eli following in a small delay.
You eventually finished, and right as your teammates got back you and Eli pulled the cookies out of the oven. "We made cookies for you guys." You said cheerfully and they all seemed thankful. You heard it was a victory so that was good. They all grabbed a glass of milk and sat around the huge plate of cookies. "These are good, (Y/n)!" Martha said taking another bite. "Thanks, but Eli helped me too!" You said drinking your milk. Emma shouted a happy thank you to the both of you as you and Eli said 'you're welcome'.
When you were done you walked out of the kitchen. To your surprise Eli followed you. "Hey, can I help you?" You asked and turned to him. He smiled at you. "I just wanted to say you're very sweet. I also appreciate you treating my owl with kindness." You smiled. "No problem, she deserves it." You gave the owl a rub under the chin with you finger and it coo-ed at your touch. He seemed happy with how well you got along with the feathered creature. "Well I'll be going now, goodbye (Y/n)."
Eli walked up stairs, most likely on his way to bed. "You get along with his bird so well, I'm sure he appreciates that!" You turned to see Fiona walk out from the kitchen. "Oh! I guess." You smiled nervously. "Yeah, I heard he had some little arguments with his fiancée before coming here because she didn't like the owl. Poor guy." His what? "Who?" You asked, keeping a steady voice. "His fiancée. He's engaged and they agreed to send Eli here to earn some money." Though as she continued her voice lowered and her eyes turned to sorrow. "Oh, (Y/n)- surely you didn't-..." You couldn't control the sadness that fell upon your face. You felt her arms wrap around you, and you let tears fall from your eyes. "I thought- he never told me-." You cried into her. "I'm sorry (Y/n)... I should have... I should have acknowledged your feelings sooner. That way, it wouldn't have been told like this." You patted her back before walking to the Library. She didn't go after you, understanding you didn't want anyone to be by you at the moment.
