You walked to the library, it was early. Maybe to early. Currently 3am. You just couldn't sleep. The matches abnormal patterns lately have messed up your sleep schedule and even if you were tired your mind wouldn't let you fall asleep.
Hence is why you were currently in the library. Maybe reading a really boring book would knock you out.
You walked aimlessly in the dark and without looking grabbed a book off the shelf. It was a good chance it would be about something you weren't interested in, so you'd fall asleep as soon as you open the first page.
Finding a big comfy chair and sitting in it, you now looked at the book you grabbed. 'History of-' Yeah this'll do. Anything history wise was boring as heck to you. You opened the red covered book and started reading. Reading... and reading... and- okay this wasn't working.
You placed the book on the floor and just sat there, glancing at whatever the moonlight lit up. You heard Emily tell Aesop he had insomnia once. Was it contagious or was your sleep schedule just ruined? Your eyes closed but you never fell asleep.
A click of the door made your droopy eyes open wide, not like you were falling asleep anyway. "Oh hello dear." Your eyes scanned up to see the Photographer. His coat was off and so was his vest, just a white button up instead. Was probably sleeping or something. Lucky.
"Hi." You mumbled back. He seemed to notice the distress in your voice and appearance. "Are you okay? It's awfully late and you look like death." How sweet. "I can't sleep, I tried reading but it didn't work." He walked up to you, and you scoot over, the chair big enough for two people. He sat down and the chair poofed up slightly due to him being heavier than you.
"Is that all you've tried?" He asked leaning down to grab the book you had read less than a page of. "Yeah-..." You squished into the corner of the chair as if shameful you didn't try anything else.
"I never thought you'd be one interested in the history dog breeding so much-." You popped up and looked at the book. "Oh- nonono! I picked randomly, if it wasn't interesting maybe I'd fall asleep faster-!" He chuckled and placed it down. "Maybe you're hungry?" You shook your head leaning back into the arm of the chair. "Maybe you have to go to the bathroom." You shook your head again as he hummed. "Here."
Your eyes widened at his movements towards you, picking you up with ease and readjusting himself to lay on the entire chair, then plopped you into his lap, facing him. "Maybe you need to sleep with someone?" You were about to protest bashfully, when you felt a wave of comfort take over you. Oh gosh, he was right. Despite being pretty much dead, a small warmth came from him as you mindlessly snuggled into him. "Okay..." you mumbled out.
The presence of another person and holding onto them while they held onto you. It was so peaceful. One of his hands pet your hair and the other simply wrapped around your waist. You had never been so close to a Hunter before, unless they were chair-ing you of course.
"Are you asleep yet?" He asked excitedly. "I was almost out..." you muttered. He seemed to go silent to let you attempt to sleep again until you wondered why he was even here in the first place.
"Hey, why are here anyways? Don't you have to sleep too?" You rose up and pushed off his chest, ready for small talk. He looked at you in a sense of dismay before smiling. "We don't really have to sleep, we're dead after all." You pouted. What a boring answer. "Well then- what do you do?" You couldn't imagine being happy in life without sleep, it was just too hard to even imagine.
"Well, I come here. You wouldn't know since you're always sleeping in your room, but tonight..." Ah, that's why. Maybe you should come more oft- You mentally slapped yourself before finishing that thought. 'Come more often' yeah right! For what-? Yeah maybe you wanted to talk to him more, and when you do you'd make sure to stare into his pretty blue eyes~ NO!
Your eyes trailed down to the man you were straddling, you almost collapsed at the butterflies in your stomach. "Are you okay ma chérie?" WHAT!? FRENCH!? That's hot! You mentally cringed at yourself as you cursed in your head. "I-I'm okay!" You blurted out, cheeks growing red as an apple.
"Are you sure?" He sat up more so he rose above you. His hand was placed against your cheek. "Maybe you're getting sick from staying up so late with me. You should go to sleep dear." He thought you were sick good- because it was no sickness you were sure of that. "O-okay- thank you for trying to help me." You shuffled off of him before he grabbed your wrist.
You looked back to his sky blue eyes, filled with what appeared to be worry. "You are sick mon amour, let me help you." He stood up and bent down a little to pick you up. He smiled at you and walked towards the door that lead to the survivors manor. "Ah, are you sure? You aren't really aloud over here." You said it sadly and his ears caught your tone of voice. "Well, it'll be our secret then." He leaned his face to yours to boop your nose with his own. You blushed when he pulled away and clutched onto him.
"I hope I don't have to play against you anytime soon. I have to thank you somehow." He chuckled quietly, now making his way through the halls of the survivors manor. "Even if we do end up against each other, I wouldn't dare hurt you love." You unconsciously smiled to yourself as your eyes looked away. "As for paying me back, you don't have too. I want to help you." He looked around and walked down a hall, specifically your hall before stopping at your door. "If you say so... or I could make you cookies? And secretly give them to you in match!"
He smiled softly before opening your door, walking in and closing it behind him. "You are very thoughtful my dear. I suppose a sweet or two wouldn't hurt." You smiled at his acception to your idea of repayment.
His arms softly let you down into your bed, and pulled the covers over you gently. You were just comfortable there with his presence. He turned to leave. If he's not here... I can't- You grabbed his sleeve before he walked off. His eyes trailed down to you. "C-can you please stay until I fall asleep? I-it shouldn't be long..." You blushed and looked away from him, but you never released your grip.
His expression was surprised at first before it softened at the sight of you. "It can't be helped I suppose." You smiled, tiredness taking over you as he sat down on the bed. You reached for his hand and clasped it, not caring if he didn't do the same. Yet to your relief he did. You mumbled out a thanks as your mind drifted away, but before you fell into a deep sleep, you asked a soft question. "How did you know where my room was?"
He bent down and kissed your cheek affectionately. "Goodnight (Y/n)."
Goodnight.
