You stood at the edge of the ship, peering over the side. The water was calm today, so you closed your eyes and rested. Though you heared a gentle thudding of boots walking up to you from behind. They stopped beside you and you heard a short shuffle beside you. You already knew, it was Emily. Only her presence would scare all the crew to the other end of the ship.
You opened your eyes and looked over to her. "Hello Doctor." She said nothing, and only looked outward
with a flask of alcohol in her grasp. "It's late, you're still drinking?" She huffed at your nagging, but you were only playing. "Its cold." She said quietly, and you watched her take a quick swig of the beverage. "It keeps warm." Her voice slurred a bit but it was nothing unusual. And despite her drunkness, she was always precise with her work. "I think you're just buzzed Emily." You held your arms to your side and she peeked at you. You would like to watch the sky and sea for hours, no matter the weather, even now. You were freezing, but you stayed outside to view the horizion.
"Have some, stay warm." You smiled wearily. "I dont think im a big fan of alcohol, even if it kept me as warm as you say." You laughed a little before turning back to sea. She scowled to herself before taking another sip. She took the bottle from her lips, and grabbed your face, pulling it towards her roughly before kissing you. But you quickly realized her intent when you tasted a bitter liquid flow into your mouth from hers.
You were so surprised by her sudden action you didn't realize she was glaring at you all the while, which made you nervous. Yet your cheeks turned a soft red at the feeling of her plush lips on yours, and when the bitterness filled your mouth she carefully pulled away. "Drop any and you're dead." She said, still holding your face.
It was laughable, you shaking your head refusing to swallow as she grit her teeth, "Then give it back." She said coming close again, and your heart jumped so harshly you swallowed unwillingly. Immediatley your face contorted into disgust and she smiled amusingly. "Not so bad is it?" She leaned over the side of the boat as you recovered from the taste. "No-.. How do you drink something that tastes so awful.." She glanced at you, a soft smile stuck on her face, being in your presence. "Drinking helps." It was a vague answer, one you were not fond of.
"Helps what exactly." She scooched over so your shoulders were snug against eachother now, making your face turn red. "Helps me get close to you.. You are not scared of me like the others, I just naturally frighten people I guess. But when I drink, I find it easier to converse with people, with you (Y/N)." She lowered her face to let her cheek sit against your own in a haze, but when you tried to sneakily grab the flask, her eyes shot open and the warmness disappeared. "I-"
"Dont touch things that aren't yours, (Y/n)." She took her space back, leaving you chilly. "I just wish you didn't drink so much.. I dont mind a cold cruel Emily's company. I'll take you the way you are." You seen her stop herself from taking a drink, but she didnt lower it. She was fighting that for you, but you werent sure if she would win. "I'm cold.." You said out of the blue, staring at her, and she could feel it. She turned her head from you, before she looked straight ahead and sighed. She stood up and tucked the flask onto her belt before taking a step closer to you and lowering herself for her to come close, rubbing her face onto yours affectionately with a kiss before she walked behind you. Her gloved hands wrapped around you as she pushed her chest against your back, her head resting on your shoulder.
Emily was warm, always, you werent sure how she did it, heaven knows, but you loved it. Being on the sea with freezing winds from the ice cold water, someone like her was lucky to have close by. Sometimes, you would go to her cabin and ask to sleep when it got too cold to handle, and she barely ever hesitated, letting you right in and holding you close. It was strange, there was nothing between you two, but at the same time there was everything between you two. Even more obvious for your crew mates. "Are you warm, mino?" You hummed, and she closed her eyes knowing that. "The stars never leave y'know, can't you take a night off from staring at them." If you were being honest, when you're stuck in the middle of the ocean all you can really look forward to is the amazing sunsets and clear night sky. "Maybe tomorrow.."
You were as per usual entrhalled with the sight of the sky, and even Emily caught herself staring from time to time these days. "Its extra cold though, and I'm tired.. lets go to sleep." She invited you to bed as subtly as she could. "alright," An invite you couldnt quite refuse. You stargazed for long enough, and you also grew sleepy. And the thought of having a warm body engulf you to bed made your eyelids even heavier. "Lets sleep."
She rose from your back and you stood up straight, the woman already grabbing your arm to walk you to her cabin. You wished your crew wouldn't raise their eyebrows when she lead you to her room, it was as innocent as sleep could get. Although she did occasionally try to feel more than she already could, with a very annoying and obviously fake snore from yourself, she let you be and would begrugingly fall asleep with you.
But tonight was not a night where she wanted more, she took her boots and hat off, and after taking off nearly a million accesories it felt like, she followed you into her bed and held you tightly in front of her, a hand on the back of your head holding you to her chest, the desire to keep you safe and warm. The only thing she found worth her love and time on this ship was you, so she would do everything she could to make sure you were as comfortable as you could be in the middle of the ocean.
