On a festival night
Don't talk
Don't make eye contact
...

You sat with your knees up against your chest on the dock of an almost forgotten shrine. The birds chirped and the koi swam below you in the clear blue water. They were free. How you wished to just be a fish right now, as silly as it sounded.

Your hand clenched your soft kimono as you bit your lip. Your eyes shimmered as tears threatened to fall from their ducts. The pout on your face was clear as day, and it seems your saddened behavior caught the attention of someone...

"What are you doing in a place like this?"

Fear quickly crushed your shoulders as you whipped your head around to the nearby voice. Your eyes peered directly at the sliding doors of the shrine with caution. No one would be foolish enough to travel into an shrine, so who was speaking to you? You almost stood up to look around the corner of the small building but you sensed a presence behind the doors. You knew someone was inside.

"Who are you?" You asked softly, a sprinkle of worry still wafting over you.

"It doesn't matter who I am. Isn't there a festival being held today? Why don't you go?"

Talking to this... thing, it made you easily forget why you were even here. You lowered your head as you turned back to the pond below. "I... don't want to go." You mumbled, and were surprised that this person actually caught your words.

"Why is that?"

You eyes welled with tears once more but quickly vanished. Not a whimper or a wine came from you, there was nothing you could do, so why cry over spilt milk?

"At the festival, I'm supposed to announce my engagement with someone I don't even know."

It was quiet, so you continued the plans for your pitiful future. "I'm sorry to even complain to you. But... there are still so many things, I want to do..." You looked up at the clear summer sky, feeling the sun kiss your skin. Perhaps this would be the last time you truly enjoy it.

"What if I help you escape from this marriage?"

Your eyes widened and you stood on your feet quick as can be, turning around to the deep voice. "Wh-what?" But before you could ponder this offer you were taken back by the door being wide open. Blackness engulfed the inside of the building, you could see nothing. It struck you as odd and wrong, you should run, but that offer crawled back into your mind.

Your face held a hint of excitement, but it more over held suspicion. Was this a joke? Was this person simply trying to get a laugh today? Even if it was a genuine offer, why help you? It's not like they knew you...

"I don't know why..., but you don't want to join him, right? I'll let you go of that bond. How is that?"

You were staring into the darkness. Whoever this was, was serious. But... what about the things you wanted to do? Could you even do that with this person? It could be possible they were just a kidnapper swaying you into his grasp. Though that was not why you turned it down.

You grabbed your kimono gently with a soft look on your face. You cannot run from things, you were strong! This marriage might not be so bad- what if it actually helps!? ... You knew inside you were simply saying those things to make yourself feel better. At this point you believed you were simply day dreaming a way out of here. So you should just accept your fate, and be sure to tell your day dream that.

You plastered a smile onto your face, pain keeping it up. "That is... that... I'm very happy you offered but. I should accept my life as it's given to m-!"

A hand came from the darkness and maneuvered behind your head. You felt dizzy as the dark from the shrine filled your vision and all you heard was a faint echo of this persons voice.

"You don't want to go, so I will refuse your horrid fate for you."

A boy with blond hair and a straw hat walked quietly, passing by a boy with horns, carrying a young girl in his arms. He stopped feet before the demon. "So... did you steal her?" He said clearly, however the boy did not stop and kept waking slowly. "Not steal, Victor, we had a proper negotiation..." The blonde boy stared at the brunette and sighed as he walked by.

"You're so needy, just because she didn't want you in her previous life at that manor, and died in that game, doesn't mean you can just take her in this life while she has no recollection."

"Did that happen?" The brunette asked softly, ignoring the blondes words of wisdom. He simply turned and walked on his way with a few last words. "I forgot you don't care what it takes to get her... I hope it goes well, Luca." And with that boys hopeful words in Luca's heart he held you tight in his arms, being sure to never let you go again.
