Chapter 4

I was bored so decided to give yall another chapter

Emily's POV

The next morning I had a few phone calls to make to a couple schools,

After three different schools I found one that I think would work best with our situation, Kenna and I would go to the school at 1 today to meet with the Headmaster, since Kenna has technically been homeschooled she is going to go through a few test to see what level she places at so she is be learning instead of bored in class, it's only 10am so I I'll let her sleep another hour before waking her up, it's Thursday now and if everything goes to plan she will start school Monday also the day my mother comes back from overseas, so it's a good think Kenna will be out of the house,

I decided to make a late breakfast, I don't normally cook so I hope I don't burn the house down

All was going well until I got a text and decided to look at it and forgot about a pancake I had left on the stove and it started to burn, smoke filled the air but I soon got it all to clear out when Kenna walk in

"God Mom there is a reason you don't cook" she says covering her nose

"You shh I tried to make breakfast, I got a few good ones" I chuckle and hand her a plate

"We have a meeting at 1 today and your new potential school so get ready when you are done eating" I say and she lights up, she still has some bandages on her wrist from a couple nights ago, she wore a sweatshirt around the team so they couldn't see it, I just hope she starts feeling better,

When we arrive at the school I can tell she is nervous and she kind of clings to my side as we stand out front,

I squeeze her hand to let her know she will be okay and we walk in to the office, and back to meet with the headmaster

"Hello Makenna, Ms.Prentiss" he smiles as we sit down in front of him

"So I understand you have never been to an in person school. Is there a reason we should know about" he ask

"It was family matters but no need to worry about that anymore" I answer and he nods

"I understand, and from the way it looks you are currently enrolled in 9th grade classes, no honors or anything but by the looks of your test results you can definitely be in a couple grades above along with advanced, honors or potential college grade courses. Of course I don't want to overwhelm you with all of this so for now we can take a few test now, the rest tomorrow along with a tour and the plan is to start on Monday?" He explains

"Yea okay" Kenna replies

"Perfect! Makenna why don't you come with me and I'll get you in a room and a teacher will come and explain this all to you. Does that work?" He ask and we nod our heads while Kenna follows him out of the room.

Makennas POV

It's happening it's really happening, I never thought I would see the day where I would be allowed to attend school and now I am, to say I was nervous would be an understatement. I know my mom just wants me to be happy and she wasn't aware of how unhappy I was stuck at home all the time, it kind of felt as if she didn't care but I don't think that is the truth. I mean here we are now in school, I don't really want to take these test but I guess it will be worth it,

I sigh and continue to follow the headmaster in a room where he tells me another teacher will be in soon, not even 5 minutes later in walks a teacher

"Hi Makenna, I'm Mrs.Rhodes, and I will be helping you get started on these test, did Mr.Matthews go over what they are for with you?" She ask me

"If Mr.Matthews is the headmaster then yes he told me it was to like figure out what classes I would take and all," I reply back to her

"Yes he is the headmaster and perfect! Do you have any questions before I explain the first test? She says

"No Ma'am" I reply and she nods handing me some paper

"Perfect, this part of the test is Math, you passed geometry and Algebra 1 but are showing high signs in your next class, I'm guessing they didn't offer anything higher for you since it was homeschooled, anyway, the test will include pretty much everything math wise, spanning from analysis, calculus and everything in between, remember these test are not to hurt you but to help place you" she smiles

"Okay thank you" I say and start the test

Emily's POV

I worry about Kenna, I know I don't need to but I do. I know she is very smart but I don't want her to get ahead of herself,

"Ms.Prentiss?" The headmaster said

"Yes?" I say

"I was asking, do you want to fill out these forms now?"

"Yes, I'll do that."

I take some time filling out forms when I get to the question about emergency contacts, we don't have anyone besides my mom and the team, and my mom would definitely not approve of this

"I am an agent with the FBI, for emergency contacts I would like to put my entire team down, if in emergency I can't be reached to call them or if needed they can sign Makenna out of school. Would that be okay?" I ask him

"Yes that is perfectly fine just make sure to have their first and last names on the paper. What part of the FBI if you don't mind me asking"

"Oh not at all and part of the Behavioral Analysis Unit" I say and hand him the paperwork. And my phone rings. It's my mother. Of course.

"I'm sorry I have to take this," I say getting up and stepping outside

"Hello Mother"

"Emily you could answer the phone with enthusiasm"

"Im sorry, Hello mother how are you?" I roll my eyes not that she can see anyway

"Better. I'm good dear, I wanted to call and say I'll be in on Monday, then probably out again in a week or two, also the Gala is coming up and I expect you to have a date"

"Okay, We will be waiting for you. And of course, you never stay long anyway, and for this Gala is Makenna invited?"

"Emily Prentiss you know my work is demanding, you should know this by now it's been 30 years for crying out loud. And you know how I feel about Makenna, I love her dearly but that doesn't mean the world needs to know about her"

"Yea okay, and I won't be attending your Gala Mother. Not without my daughter, it's been 15 years. You could at least act like you are happy about her."

"Emily, you need to be at the Gala people are expecting you. And I am happy about her she is my granddaughter after all"

"I won't come if Makenna isn't invited and that's final, I have to go mother talk to you soon"

I say and hang up, she is in for a surprise when she gets home to find out not only does my team now know about Kenna but she is enrolled in school, I smile walking back into the school

Okay like Elizabeth Prentiss is no fun, but I guess she will be surprised
