Chapter 38

JJs POV

Today was Kenna's first day back at school since everything happened, I know it's going to be hard for her to adjust and all especially since she doesn't want Grant to know. I am honestly just so proud of her for dropping it and allowing me to help. I know things have been rough since Emily but we are coping, I like to go see her once a week and just talk, catch up on things and I know it may sound weird seeing as she can't talk back and isn't really there but it helps me.

I was going to head over to the cemetery to see her once Kenna left for school which I am making breakfast for us now

"Kenna, breakfast is done" I tell up the stairs and she comes down with her bag in her hand and sits down,

"Are you ready to go back?" I ask her and she nods

"Yea, I miss Grant" she chuckles,

"Have you seen the others since the wedding?" I ask her

"I mean I see Grant and Oakley all the time, but I haven't seen Vic, Lyla or Micah since the funeral," I say

"Oh that's right I forgot they were there" I say and she nods

"Yea, plus it's hard to see them when they go to school so far away. Especially Lyla." She explains and I nod

"It's not high school anymore" I say

"No, No it's definitely not" she says and we finish our breakfast

"Well I got to go" she says grabbing her keys and everything she needs

"Bye Momma love you" she says and walks out the door.

I texted her and told her I loved her since she left quickly and I cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast.

Once I got all that done I got a sweater and some jeans on and made my way to see Emily, well not actually see her but you know what I mean.

I parked the car and walked up to where she was buried but someone else was there. Derek.

I walk slowly up to him and stand a little ways back not to disrupt what he was doing but he must have heard me and turned around

"Hey Jayje" he smiles and I smile back walking over to him

"I miss her" he says

"I know. Me too" I say

"I can go" he says

"No, Stay, I'm sure she is glad you're here" I say

"Do you come often?" He ask me

"About once a week but I couldn't last week" I explain and he nods

"She was lucky to have you" he says

"I was the lucky one" I smile.

We talked a little more before he had to go to work and I stayed.

"Hey baby, I'm sorry I didn't come last week. Kenna and I had troubles of our own which I'm sure you know about. But she did ask to call me Momma. She misses you. We all do. We're getting by though, she asked me why I didn't go back to work and I can't, I go back and I see your face. You're smile, you're laughter and I miss it. I wish We had more time together. I wish we could have went on our honeymoon, I wish we could have had kids, I wish we could have grown old together. I wish we had a lifetime but we don't. Almost 3 months without you. I love you Emily, always and forever" I say and out a rose on her grave and walk back to my car to start the drive home

Makennas POV

I had just finished my last class of the day and was about to find Oakley when Ryan pulled me aside
