Chapter 54

JJ's POV

A few days later with no change, the doctors lightend up her medications so she would wake up but she hasn't,

Grant went home to shower and comes back right after each day

Emily and I have done the same with one of us always being here incase she woke up.

The neurologist is going to come in later to do another check up to check on her brain activity, hopefully they see something that will indicate she will wake up,

"Hi, I'm just going to take her vitals" a nurse says coming in and we nod and let her do her thing

"Any changes?" I ask

"I'm not supposed to give any information since I'm not the doctor" she says

"So it's worse?" Emily says to me

"No.... she's just not the doctor" I say hopeful and use my thumb to run the back to her hand

"Dr.Adams will be in soon and update you" she says and walks out

"Why can't she just tell us?" Emily ask

"I don't know, the doctor will be in soon" I assure her and kiss her head

10  minutes later the doctor walks in

"Good morning ladies" he smiles

"Good news?" I ask

"Yes actually, her fever is gone, her oxygen levels are perfect, she is improving every minute" he says and we smile

"Does that mean she'll wake up?" I ask

"I don't want to give you false hope.... but, with the ways her levels are improving I want to say yes but again the neurologist will give you better information on that" he says

"Thank you" Emily says

"You're welcome" the doctor says and leaves us in the room

"She looks a lot better than she did 3 days ago" I say, she is no longer on a ventilator and only had her iv in.

"Yea, I just need her to wake up now" Emily says and I nod and sit down on her lap and lay my head on her shoulder

"I love you" I say

"I love you too" she says and kisses my head.

We both went out to get another cup of coffee and update everyone on what the doctor had told us, only my parents and Grant were here now,

"So why isn't she awake?" My dad ask

"We don't know, we have to wait until the neurologist comes which is in about 10 minutes. We'll be back" I say and they nod as Emily and I walk back to the room to wait.

10 minutes later The neurologist Dr.Foster walks in with a chart in his hands

"So good news on the vitals" he smiles and we nod as he goes again and does what every it is he was doing

" I want to get a CT, to see what's going on, any changes etcetera. And we will go from there" he says

"What if the scans are clean?" I ask

"Then there is no medical reason for her not to be awake yet, and we can either wait a little longer or give her some meds to try and wake her up. That part is up to you. A resident should be in to take her to CT" he says and walks out

"We want to try the meds right?" I ask

"Yea, I think that's our best option" Emily says and I nod.
