With a tug, I lifted her up and trudged back to the car, which could take a while. Startled, she looked at me, stayed still, snuggled up to me and went back to sleep.

Confused that she stayed so still, I faltered briefly, but then kept running to avoid wasting time.

When I stumbled, she woke up and clung to me. I looked down at her uncomfortably as she snuggled up to me. I didn't respond and tried to ignore her stares as I continued walking.

"Why did you run away?"

"I couldn't handle someone giving their life because of me...", she breathed sadly.

"It wasn't because of you... the gang would have attacked us sooner or later anyway, and there probably would have been more victims than just him."

"You sure?", she asked, yawning tiredly.

"Yep.", I put her down for a moment as I unlocked the car and I opened the door.

"Thanks for coming to get me"

"Well, someone has to get you back if you're going on to stubbornly walk towards the brothel.... Colin would have killed me if you ended up there...whereas I wouldn't mind.... I'd book you day and night." Smirking, I walked around the car when I saw her distraught look and got in.

"Eww.", she whined and got in the car.

Tired, she leaned against the wall of the car and fell into a light sleep. After twenty minutes, we arrived in front of the warehouse.

"Kai and Keith are probably already asleep." I muttered as I got out of the car.

"Hmmmm?" she mumbled sleepily.

"Nothing... come on, get out."

"Okay...", she got out and walked after me.

I locked the car and made my way inside where Keith and Kai were lying on the couch sleeping. At that, Kai's morning wood was hard to miss.
Lucy walked in behind me.

"Oh.", she mumbled, looking away flushed at seeing Kai like that.

Quickly she went into a room with a bed. Silently, I ran into my own and closed the door behind me. In the middle of the night someone stood in front of my door and knocked.    Sighing, I put my guitar aside and got up to open the door.

"Can I sleep over at your place? Just this once... Please... ", she whimpered.

She looked terrible. Red eyes, she had been crying. I looked at her for a moment. She was wearing something that didn't match her style. A pair of short black shorts that only half covered her butt and a tight shirt that emphasized her bh-loose bust.

"What do you think I would say?", I grumbled annoyed and looked at my watch for a moment.

She looked sadly at the floor.

"Please..."

"What about Keith or Kai? Isn't Kai usually the one who reads you bedtime stories?", I joked with a raised eyebrow.

"They're asleep." she said curtly, pushing past me and snuggling wearily into my bed.

Yes, it was my bed, but that seemed to leave her cold. Outraged, I looked after her.

"That wasn't permission."

"I can live with that.", she grinned, pulling my blanket over her.

Annoyed, I threw the door shut and sat down at the windowsill.
Tired, I let my head fall back against the wall and closed my eyes.

"River...?", she asked shyly.

"Huh?", I grumbled before opening my eyes again and looking out the window.

"Are you playing some songs for me?", she asked and looked at my guitar.

"Why should I?"

"Because it's beautiful"

"You're on very thin ice, kiddo."

"I'm sorry...", she breathed and sat down next to me.

I paid no attention to her and stubbornly looked out the window.

"Why don't you sleep...?", she asked sleepily.

"Why don't you shut up?"

She sighed and changed the subject.

"How about you accompany me to a club tomorrow night. I don't want to be alone with Maja and James..."

"You're not going anywhere...", I just grumbled and dropped my head against the window.

"But...I wanted to post-celebrate with my friends. I'm sure they'll think I don't want to do anything with them if I don't show up. Again."

"If that's the only reason they think that, they're not worth it either..."

"Okay... ", she sighed and leaned tiredly against me.

Confused, I looked down at her.

"I thought you were afraid of me...?"

"Not always...I used to have a lot of respect for Colin sometimes.... That's in me... But sometimes more or less"

"Okay...", sighing I leaned back and closed my eyes.

As she fell asleep she snuggled against my chest. It felt strange to have someone again who didn't see the evil in me, so I hesitantly opened my eyes again and looked down at her. The next day, I woke up to her lying on top of me. Sighing, I pushed her aside and went into the bathroom to take a cold shower. 15 minutes later, I came out of the bathroom with only a towel tied around my waist and ran to my closet.
She was now lying under the covers in bed, had crawled there.
