Colin's P.o.V
"Nobody deserves that much bad luck in life.... and certainly not violence...", my hand stroked her back, when suddenly my cell phone started to ring.
Sighing, I reached for it and picked it up without looking to see who was on it.
"Yes?"
I could tell she was listening and looking at me.
"Got a fight set up for you today. In an hour. Be on time and warm up properly this time. You can't afford to be out because of a fucking torn ligament." Keith spoke into the phone.
Swallowing, my gaze slid to my leg, which still hurt a little, before I slowly pushed her off of me.
"Against who?", I asked as coldly as ever.
"River."
My breath caught as adrenaline suddenly shot through my body and my muscles shook with tension.
"The River?"
My voice sounded pressed as my body became more and more tense for some reason, suddenly radiating such heat through my body that I felt like a fired-up Offen.
"Destroy him."
With those words, he hung up, leaving me pissed off or.... Anticipatory. I really didn't know what those feelings were inside me at the moment. But what I did know was that today was River's last hour...or mine....
"What's wrong?" the white-haired beauty breathed, a little scared.
"I have to go."
Without looking at her another time, I ran downstairs and said a quick goodbye to Kai.
"Take care of her, I'll come by again in the morning.... But if I don't show up.... Just make sure she's okay..."
"Wait...what do you mean? Colin!" he called after me.
But I was already gone, trying to mentally prepare myself for the all-important battle. Archenemy vs. archenemy.... or even former best friends who would finally part from each other by death today....
Kai's P.o.V.
Slowly, I walked up to Lucy at seven o'clock sharp and knocked.
"Come in!" she mumbled tiredly, it was a Saturday....
She sat up and stayed under the cozy warm blanket.
"Morning..."
A sad smile formed on my lips as I inwardly tried to find the right words.
"I just called Keith..."
"What's...?" she breathed in wonder.
"You probably know... or hopefully you know that Colin does illegal stuff in his spare time... including dealing drugs and also.... Street fights..." so I started talking.
"Yeah already... Did something happen?", her eyes widened.
"We...we don't know.... he fought his nemesis yesterday.... he was completely... freaked out according to Keith.... But River... well his nemesis lost the fight, but got him pretty hard a few times..."
"Meaning? Tell me what's going on already," she panicked and quickly pulled on a pair of pants before standing up.
"He was all broken up after the fight... which makes sense I mean, the two of them used to be best friends.... or better said like thick as thieves.... in any case he had deep cuts and for sure one or two broken bones and then he ran away directly... he hasn't shown up at home yet though... and Keith said he couldn't possibly have survived those injuries...", I said as gently as I could.
"Tell me you're lying.", she looked at me like she was emotionally devastated, then continued speaking. "Damn it, please tell me you're lying!"
Slowly, I stood up and pulled Lucy into my arms.
Lucy's P.o.V.
I tore myself away, firstly because I still didn't like physical contact from other people, secondly that I could sprint down. That's exactly what I did, I was faster than ever, I put on my shoes and sprinted out of the house, I would find him if it was the last thing I did.
Colin's P.o.V.
Silently, I lay on the ground in this ugly, old, branching forest, waiting for my life to end. Why should I say goodbye, make a scene, when all I wanted was to be left alone.
Lucy's P.o.V.
I ran by my house just to grab some knives, you never know. I would probably be too much of a coward to use them, but for Colin, I would walk over dead bodies. I kept running to his apartment and found that it opened on its own.
Where would I hide if I wanted to be alone? Then an idea came to me. Where was I before when my first family had been looking for me? I was always in the forest and why? Well, because it was too big to find me quickly!
I walked back and forth on his balcony, it had to be him, because from here you could see the dense forest, it was worth a try. I grabbed a t-shirt from him and ran to the shelter, we had enough dogs here that used to be in special areas and they weren't good enough anymore. I grabbed one that I spent a lot of time with when I was here and let him sniff Colins t-shirt. After that I ran with him to the woods, at first he found purely nothing and I would feel sick with worry.
Colin's P.o.V.
Painfully I closed my eyes, when suddenly a long, unpleasant whistling sounded in my ears and I felt myself being slowly carried away, although I was still lying in place. It was as if I was floating when all of a sudden an excruciating pain jerked through my body and I suddenly found myself standing next to me, watching as my upper body began to twitch before it suddenly just stopped and I.... Or my body lay there motionless.
Lucy's P.o.V
After a few seconds, the Belgian shepherd sprinted off with his muzzle on the ground, and I ran after him, already dialing Kai's number. When I noticed Colin from a short distance, I sped up even more and dropped to the ground next to him, then checked his heartbeat
"Hello?" asked Kai after he picked up.
Colin's P.o.V.
Confused, I stepped up behind Lucy. What are you doing? I tried to speak to her. I put my hand on her shoulder, but she didn't respond.
"I found him, he still has a pulse, we are in the woods, if you are at the gas station then go straight in about a kilometer I need you please come quickly," she cried hysterically into the phone.
I could imagine what Kai was doing right now. He hung up, sprinted to the car and drove off while calling the rescue. He was always the one looking out for me, whether I wanted him to or not. The dog laid down next to me while Lucy got more and more nervous, checking my heartbeat every two seconds
She started to move once briefly, but then didn't dare to put me in the stable side position, probably because she had no idea what all I had broken. Slowly I let myself slide next to her and looked at my hands, which suddenly became transparent at the fingertips. It was time to go...
I looked in the same direction as Lucy when I heard a noise. She looked around brightly when she saw some rescue men as well as emergency doctor. She made room for them and took the dog away.
Lucy's P.o.V
Whimpering I leaned against a thick tree and let myself sink down, the dog lay next to me and gave me warmth and peace. I watched the humans fuss wildly then him, but then the lights went out on me too.
Colin's P.o.V
For a long time I sat next to her, watching them move my body away, until suddenly panic broke out among them. The farther away they took me, the quieter my pulse became.
"We're losing him!"
And that's when I realized, I had to leave her to be able to live.... but did I even want to?
