Rivers P.o.V
"Is everything okay?"

I listened to her bright voice, there was a moment when I found it beautiful. But now for some reason it made me angry. If it wasn't for her, Colin wouldn't have shot anyone, then Keith wouldn't have forgotten about the body, and then my best friend would still be here. And all this just for a teenager who stood out with her white hair and ocean colored eyes. So I gave her a quick glance, but decided to continue to ignore her and hopefully enjoy the peace and quiet. I heard her sigh briefly and shortly after she turned away, perhaps wanting to get some more sleep. When the sun was already rising, the fatigue overwhelmed me yet and I fell into a light sleep. Around 10am I woke up again and tiredly reached for my cell phone to find that I had 35 calls from Keith, so I called him back with a strange feeling in my stomach.... was that panic?

"RIVER! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?!"

"Chill. What's up?"

"There's trouble! Get the girl to safety and make sure nothing happens to her!"

The last thing to come out of the line was a gunshot and then there was silence.

"FUCK!", hectically, I jumped up and grabbed my gun.

In the corner of my eye, I saw Lucy startle up.

"River... What...?", she asked sleepily, not seeming to realize she was in danger.

"Come on."

Quickly I ran to the door and yanked it open to get into the main wing.
She ran after me, stumbling, and clawed at my hand.

"What's wrong...?", she looked at me fearfully, but I only squeezed her hand from my body, merely telling her to stay away.

"No time to explain. Stay behind me no matter what."

Unlike yesterday, I didn't turn in front of the room where roars were coming from, but ran straight inside, causing an immediate silence and everyone staring at us.

"Gear up. Two men to me. The rest to headquarters, there's trouble. Meet me in the bunker if everything went well. I'm counting on you!"

Two of my youngest gang members immediately made their way to us, though I rebuffed them directly.

"It's enough for me to have to protect just one incompetent, I don't need you guys too. You go along with the others and stay in the background. If you have to shoot, shoot."

Chaos erupted as various people ran from left to right and over each other. All except Tyler and Brick, who I pulled to me and then ran back out of the room. I risked a glance over my shoulder, she had made herself very small and was hiding behind me.

"What's wrong?", her shaky voice beeped.

Silently, I continued walking until I reached the door before turning to look at Ty and Brick.

"We're doing everything as we discussed. If either of you die, I'll kill them, understand?"

A slight smirk formed on both of their lips before they turned serious again and lined up behind the white-haired girl so we formed a triangle around her.

"Let's go."

"River, can you please tell me what's going on?", Lucy asked in a whiny pitch.

The door swung open with a loud bang, drowning out her words as I sprinted off and my two boys held her back by the shoulders. Lucy squinted her eyes and didn't dare to even move. I gave them the sign that everything was clear, whereupon they told the girl to run.
She immediately started running, but slipped on a stone and stumbled into a secluded, dark alley. I gritted my teeth angrily as she was grabbed and dragged further into the alley.

That wasn't River who had me so tightly in his grip there.... Fuck. Whimpering, I let it happen as I was given a shot. I winced and felt the liquid spread, it burned. Immediately I weakened and staying conscious became more and more difficult.

Dumbfounded, I looked to Tyler, who shot her attacker in time to rip out the syringe.

"She should be right back.", he gasped after he set her down in front of me and Brick scanned the rest of the compound.

"Otherwise all clear."

"Fine, Brick you drive.", annoyed by this crappy situation, I loaded her into the cargo area of the black van and sat on the opposite side of her.

She tipped forward briefly with an exhausted groan and I pushed her roughly into the seat and searched for the seat belt. Furious, I pulled on it and sped at her.

"I don't want this anymore....", she breathed slowly and limply.

Damn girl, I'll beat you to death if you keep this up. Incensed, I slid into my seat and clenched my hands into fists. I took a breath and gradually came down.

"You should have found someone else to be your boyfriend...", I said simply and let my head fall against the metal wall.

"Can't you just leave me to them?"

"And undo a year of hard work? No thanks.", I said giving her a fiery look before hiding my emotions again and counting off the bullets in my gun.
"Next time I tell you to run to me, you run to me and not to the right or the left, understand? Tyler risked his life for you.", I hissed, taking the safety off the gun.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for any of this to happen!", she whimpered.

"I hope so, too.", I sighed as I watched her anxiously lower her gaze.

"We'll be right there.", Brick informed me, which is why I stood up and picked up my gun.

As if I did this every day I grabbed the lever for the door as soon as we came to a stop and jumped out while looking around and then knocking on the metal.

"You can get out."

Once everyone was with me, I pushed aside quite a bit of dirt and leaves before using a code to open the hatch and going in first to scan the room.

"You can come down, all clear."
