Anthony

With it being Valentine's Day that means it's about time to leave for spring training. Depending on how the season goes sometimes we have to be in Mesa by now. Luckily for me I am not a pitcher or a catcher and with me staying in Chicago I get to work out at the facilities so I can arrive later than most. That means I can spend Valentine's Day in the city with my girl.

Valentine's Day was hard for Celeste, as most things where love is supposed to be the driving force is. For her love the past few Valentine's Day's were fake or maybe even gone all together. She got some kind of crazy expensive gift like a car or some jewelry or clothes and was just expected to appreciate it. But the thing about gifts is that it should be something you want. That's what makes it special. Because you can get something really nice but if it's not something you need or asked for it is no longer a gift, that's a burden. Something you are told to want and like but instead are now stuck with and have fake appreciation for.

So I wanted to do something nice, maybe something she won't remember every single detail of but when she thinks back to our first Valentine's Day together she can smile and remember that she doesn't recall what she got or what we did but she can remember how she felt and that it was one of the best feelings. Knowing that she was so loved and that the love will last.

So I send her off to the spa to get a full body massage and whatever else she would like done. I know she said she needed to get her hair touched up and she wanted red and blue nails for spring training. And Valentine's Day is about partner love but it's about self love too, so she gets to treat herself while I get the rest of the day planned out.

I put some rose pedals around the apartment and pick up yellow daisies because they're her favorite. I find a friend to make us some chocolate covered strawberries with our initials on it and a few with some stars. I get us red wine and two glasses with our initials on it also. A few little things that I know will make her happy.

She comes home right at lunch time and I shower her in some kisses. She takes a bunch of pictures of our little set up and sends them to her mom. I was hoping to see Hannah really soon, her numbers are still looking good and she's going strong. I'm hoping to have her out for a week at spring training and I'll get to see her then.

For now it was Celeste and I and we were going to celebrate our love. I got us sushi and we break into the wine. We sit on the couch and just talk as we finish our food. We were all packed and ready for spring training, we leave tomorrow so I was ready to see a whole new world with her. I always loved Arizona and the heat, but with her with me I know it'll be the time of my life.

"I know we said no gifts but I did get you something" I finally tell her as she starts to pout.

"Anthony you already did so much" she argues.

"And at the same time I feel like it's not enough to show you how much I love you. I could spend all my money on you and I would go out and get some more just to show you how much I love you. But I won't do that because I know you wouldn't talk to me if I did that" I tease.

"You're right" she giggles.

"But this is something I gave a lot of thought. It wasn't something I just saw in a store and got because I think it would good on you. If I went by that logic you would be wearing everything I see.

But this was something that made me think of you not just because of its beauty, or the way it sparkles. It reminds me of you because the sparkles brighten all the things around it. There's lots of beauty in this world but like this you're in a league of your own. And there's a bunch of parts to it that makes it whole and you're so much more than just one thing, to me you're everything and I hope that comes through with this.

Most of all it's one of a kind, like the love we share. I've never seen anything like this and I've never met anyone like you. I know there's nothing in this world better than what I have with you... and I hope you feel the same" I insist.

I open up the ring box to show the four rings I found when I was shopping for spring training about a week ago. I was never meant to stumble across the rings but the best things in life aren't planned. Thanks to Celeste I knew that better than anyone. And now the celestial love we share can be worn on her fingers. I know she liked rings but not the big rocks. She says it weighs her down and she can't wear them many places. So with this set she can choose which ones she wants and the radiance she gives off can now reflect off the rings.

"Anthony..." she whispers as she picks up one of the rings. They were all different but just like the stars each one is special in their own way. And they make up the celestial sphere that I am ever so lucky enough to admire even when the sun is out.

"Happy Valentine's Day" I say as she just shakes her head.

She pulls me into a long kiss and I nearly drop the rings. But I hold on to them tight as she holds me close. We slowly break apart as she holds my face in her hands.

"Thank you, for everything. But mostly thank you for your love" she says softly.

"For you I would capture all the stars, just so you can see how much you shine" I assure her.

She softly kisses my nose before taking the ring box from me. She puts a ring on each finger and I thank god they fit. Hannah helped me figure out the sizes which saved me a lot of trouble.

Celeste holds her hand up to let the light catch the purple stones. Purple was her favorite color so I knew these were perfect for her. Judging from the size of the smile in her face I think I did pretty good.
