Repeat Until Death

I'm a little sweaty, and I feel hot all over — which got me tossing and turning in bed, and then I feel arms circling my waist and someone gently nuzzling and kissing on my neck. I wake up in an instant, my eyeballs almost popping out of my lids. I turn to my side to see who I'm in bed with, and see Levi staring lovingly at me, a huge smile on his pink lips.

"Hey," he purrs, his voice sexy, low and still a little raspy from sleep. "Good morning." He bites his lip as if to stop himself from smiling, then lowers his face again on my neck to plant a soft kiss on the back of my ear.

My eyes dart around Levi's room, and I know that the sun is already so high up in the sky because the gray and white walls of his bedroom is now absorbing the all blinding light coming in through the windows. So either it's fucking noon already, or we're both in heaven.

I wished for the latter.

I get up without greeting back Levi, and check the time from the digital clock on the bedside table — 11:38AM.

Holy shit. Covering myself with the fluffy blanket, I scramble myself out of Levi's bed and pick up my skinny leather pants from the floor to check on my phone.

Eight missed calls, and three text messages from Günter. Shoot.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!

Günter is coming in from Florida — just a three-hour plane ride away from where I am. And if he'd left around 10AM he'd probably be landing here in New York already in less than an hour and a half.

I immediate get up and panic, dressing myself up like crazy.

"Hey, why are you in such a hurry?" Levi chuckles and gets himself up from bed, too.

"There's... there's somewhere I got to be." I mumble absent-mindedly. Fuck. Now how am I supposed to talk it out with Levi if I'm already running out of time?

And it dawned on me, that's just our sad reality — we're always running out of time.

"Where are you headed? Indie-Con?" He puts his shirt and boxers on, walks over to me and wraps his arms around my waist as I struggle to put my leather pants on. "Come on, stay in bed with me. You know you can skip all that bullshit and just come back again tomorrow."

"Levi, I can't." I say, zipping up and buttoning my pants. I walk out of his bedroom and hurriedly head downstairs to get my bag, shoes and blazer.

"Hey, hey, hey. Charlie, just... stop right there," he gently grabs for my arms and turns me around to face him. I look up in his eyes, and see that the happiness and glow on his face merely just a few seconds ago has completely gone. His expression and countenance is now dark, weary, anxious — it's almost that same look he had yesterday when I saw him highly obliterated from alcohol.
