Year 846

Mankind was living peacefully within the tall walls for a century. As long as you kept caged and hidden from the predator, you were happy. But that wasn't the case, I looked at them differently

Unlike most people, I was fond of studying titans. From their history from past records and structure, I found it exciting. But there were too little to none information about them, and humanity was no step closer to unraveling a single clue

Just so, the Survey Corps was my first choice, just like my brother Erwin. But ever since the casualties caused by titans increased every year, he would never let me. Erwin thinks I was better off as a doctor, and not a titan killing machine

Years later, I didn't regret listening to his advice on being a doctor. I graduated on top of the school and started working in the town village

Even so, aiding the people wasn't the only thing I was skilled in, but I was very experienced in horse riding and guns too. Both me and Erwin grew up in the forest with huge trees and played hide and seek very often. He would cheat by using an abandoned maneuver gear he found years ago so I did the same by running with horses. Standing on a galloping horse was not a problem as well. As for guns, it's something I'd rather not recall

"Come in"

In came one of the scout members from the Survey Corps "The commander wants to inform Vien Smith that he wishes to see you at his office tomorrow at 8am sharp"

Erwin? What could he possibly need from me. As I know it's probably very busy at the Survey Corps now

"Tell him I'll be sharper than his blades" I chuckled "you can go"

When the soldier left, I leaned my head on my desk and wondered what the reason was. He just visited me three days ago so it couldn't be he was checking up. I hope it's not anything serious

---

Vien immediately woke up with the rays of sunlight shining down on her visage. It was a very early morning yet she felt very excited to visit Erwin. Well because she always did, to everyone. Vien was the social butterfly who was in good terms with every individual in the village grounds. It was almost impossible to hate the girl

Like Erwin, she's quite tall, smart and hardworking. The only thing they differed in was personality and hair color, since Vien had long night black hair. And younger than him, she was a 29 year old doctor

Vien wasn't going as a professional so she wore a pair of black tight jeans, a long coat over her white shirt and some flats. "5:30 am" She checked her time and read it with a smile. Even if her destination was far, she'd still arrive hours before Erwin told her to. She was just too much of an early bird to begin with

---

The wide grounds of Survey Corps territory was buzzing at the early morning, it was mostly seniors and cadets in training. Groups of soldiers were everywhere, but it soon became quiet that only the sound of footsteps were heard in the corridor. They all turn their heads when the figure walked in

No one was speaking, but they all had the same thing in mind. And it was because all knew that no one in their right mind would walk into their grounds if not a soldier. They all gawked as the girl showed no remorse of entering, as she kept skipping further into the corridor

Only one approached her, she saw him unhappy but she didn't mind. She smiled "Oh, have you seen the commander here by any chance?"

"You have no right to be here, you should leave" He responds sternly

The man was about to take another shot but he was tapped on the shoulder by someone. Everyone gasped and stood stiffly seeing Erwin behind him. The soldier stood the same and saluted, and proceeded to complain about Vien

Erwin replies "Your cadets must be waiting for you at the training grounds now, mustn't waste time here. You, Vien follow me please"

The soldier looked confused, glancing to Vien who waved goodbye before following Erwin

"V-vien? So that was-" He got interrupted by his other friend

"Yup, I think she's Commander's sister. That was quite a close call for you brother" He joked, after leaving the scout in a dazed state

---

Vien sat on his office chair, making him chuckle and sitting on the sofas instead. "So, how's work?" Vien asked as she looked around

"Well, we have so much duties to do so I'll just be straightforward"

"What's the problem?" She asked

Erwin took a sharp inhale of air, before saying "Vien, I want you to work with us in the Survey Corps"
