"Vien?"

---

"No, way. Were you also thinking the same thing?" Armin muttered

Their Commander gathered the cadets in one room, and turns out that most of them also had the same suspicion. While they were talking, Levi stared outside the window, watching their Lieutenant in the barracks, helping as usual

"Wait n-no, I don't think that it's possible" Mumbled Connie "Isn't she the same Lieutenant who has a bloody, cruel reputation in that island? T-that's nothing like her.."

"But if it's really her, then how did she get there? D-don't tell me she-"

"I don't think so" Hanji disagreed, putting down a parchment from her shelf. It was full of indications, Marley fleet's route to be specific

"Remember when I told you that I got this a few years ago? The reason why our troops were able to capture more than 20 of their ships is because a person shared extremely confidential information about their routes. What we have now, we completely owe it to this person right here" She explained

The captain looks over his shoulder asking "Was there any name on it?"

"No there wasn't, but you can tell that the very person who gave this was from the military, otherwise how would they be able to snatch something this important to them?"

Armin asked "The question is, why would that person help us in the first place? They see us as devils"

"We don't need to worry about that now, because I already have something in mind" Hanji looked outside the window "I think that.."

The cadets, including the Captain avert their gazes, attention falling on the Marleyan captive outside

"I think she's the one who gave it"

In shock, the cadets widen their eyes. Jean retorts "B-but isn't she a Commissioned Officer there?! There's no way she would do that"

Levi's eyes squinted "No, she's not"

The Next Day

The Marleyan captives were all in a room surrounded with the Garrison guards. Even if they were only having breakfast, every exit was securely blocked - except the ones leading directly to the dungeon cells. Their disgust filled faces were annoying Gabi, thus she kept mumbling curses under her breath while Falco tried to stop her

The other girl sat still, her stomach was knotting in pain but all she could do was imagine. She couldn't believe what the Survey Corps told her, most likely she didn't want to

"Lieutenant Klein, why'd you stop wearing your mask?" Asked Falco

Three of them were in one table though only two were talking. They started to notice that the Lieutenant was trying to avoid conversations with them. It made Gabi angry "Oi, Lieutenant Klein"

"How can you be so calm when we've been in here for weeks? Aren't we supposed to be escaping by now?!" Gabi angrily whispered

"N-no" She mumbled - "What?!"

Their Lieutenant finally spoke, but she had her cold eyes on the table, and her voice wasn't angry nor normal - just lifeless, it was dead

"Gabi," She began "Did you kill a scout on that ship? Like, a g-girl?"

That was a random question, and it was making Falco raise a few suspicions. However, a sinister look plastered on Gabi's face as she snickered "Yes! I was able to take a woman down on that ship! That's one less of a devil to deal with n-"

Falco held her arm under the table, eyes not leaving Dahlia's alarming expression. "Quiet" He whispered

"Why should I?" Gabi angrily said

They avert their heads to Dahlia slowly, hearing a faint noise of her breathing. All they saw was the clenching of her fists "Gabi, y-you.."

"Y-you, how dare you kill S-sasha.."

Falco gasped, staring at Lieutenant wide-eyed. Her entire body began quivering, as she repeated the same phrase under her breath. Gabi scowls, slamming a fist down

"And what does it matter to you if I killed that devil woman?! She and every scout deserves to die!" Gabi retorted "It annoys me so much to see you pity these vicious demons!"

No, she couldn't take it anymore. Dahlia stood up, grabbing the girl by her fist as she heavily glared at her "If anyone's a devil it's you! How could you kill that woman?!"

Grabbing her collar up in return, Gabi's eyes enraged, screaming at her face "Why? Is she one of your friends when you were first here?! It's been so many years how could you betray Marley like this?! I always thought you've changed!!"

Realizing what she blurted out in front of everyone, Falco was agape

It also shocked Dahlia that she was taken aback, but her surge of anger for Gabi immensely outweighed it

"I've been encircled by the very people that slaughtered so many of mines, do you seriously think I'd side with you devils?! I had no choice but to play along with everything because I was abducted by your stupid War Chief to that damn island! Everyone knew about my identity that's why I had to be your country's darn shitstock for years!" Dahlia shrilled, akin to the rumbling inside her own body

"I knew that as long I was alive, I knew I still had a chance to return to my home despite everyone thinking I was dead, that's why I did everything they told me to! Enlisting in their military and fighting alongside Marley, I had no problem with that. But being asked to invade and attack my own people, I'd rather kill myself than take part with you bastards. And blowing their heads that night, it was the shittiest I ever felt in my life" She shuddered Gabi's collar

"And here I have Sasha's murderer right in front of me. I'd gladly return the pain you caused her tenfold. You're going to regret doing that" Dahlia's eyes tell, and if they could burn from anger, it would've turned to ashes by now

Falco stood up, "L-lieutenant-"

"S-so, you were the one who stole all of Captain Magath's attack plans for Paradis that year" Gabi's eyes widen, but it infuriated in a second

She yelled into her ears "You damn traitor!! You've been helping these island demons all these years?!!!"

"Yes" Dahlia's rebuke teemed the room's walls "Yes I did! I admit that I was working as Paradis' spy on Marley for years! I admit that I was the reason why our attacks on Paradis always failed. Because delaying the war between us was my only objective during those years. Now get this in your head"

Holding her shoulders harshly, she pulled Gabi closer and lowly hissed

"I was never...... in Marley's side"

Growling in outrage, Gabi pushed herself away and harshly ripped the Lieutenant badge on Dahlia's uniform "Then you can finally stop pretending now, you darn demon!"

The young girl's eyes watered, and Falco's expression was unreadable. His eyes lost its life once he stared at Dahlia who was also tearing up. Gabi cursed at her before grasping Falco's hand, as they stormed away

A tear rolled off her cheek. The mask she hid behind in for years was finally taken off. This was it - now everyone in Marley would know that she betrayed them. Dahlia muffled her tears in, and she fell on her knees. She was so angry at Gabi that all she could do was cry on the floor, and hide all her rage inside her clenched fists

"V-vien?"
