"We'll see each other
again in 2 weeks"
---
Vien spent the last months of the year with her friends in Survey Corps. Although Levi and his squad ventured on a mission near the mountain villages, Erwin said that it would be unnecessary for Vien to join so she stayed behind. They were away for more than 3 weeks already so she didn't celebrate New Year's Eve with them, and got to spend more time with Hanji, Mike, and her medical friends instead
It was sudden, because they left the morning after the long expedition. That was probably why the Captain was still up during that night
She also supervised the cadets for weeks, and became serious with it when they were about to graduate
There were times where she would wonder about how the Captain was doing, since no one informed her about the mission, she didn't know when they all left with no notice
Probably because Erwin didn't want me persuading him to let me go
"Hiiiiii Vien" Hanji approached Vien "Time flies so fast huh, soon enough we'll have the new cadets"
"Yup, all these cadets liked me so quickly since the Captain wasn't here to supervise them by himself"
"Speaking of him" Hanji grinned "They'll finally arrive tomorrow afternoon, aren't you excited??"
Vien joked "Surely, should I throw a fit for not being told about the mission? They'll likely understand"
Hanji laughed "Throwing a fit at shorty? You're doing God's work"
They joked with each other the whole afternoon during training hours, until Erwin approached them suddenly from behind
"Can we talk at my office Vien?"
Hanji suggested that she would substitute on her supervising duties, so Vien left the post and followed Erwin to his office
She sat down and waited for Erwin to speak. He was hesitant so she assumed it was a serious matter
"You know that the 104th cadets are graduating in 2 weeks right? That means we'll have a new batch of soldiers during this year's camp"
Vien nodded, and he continued
"There have been recent reports of titans in the safe area, and we can't afford any losses during their last month at the mountains, so I want you to assist Mr. Shadis and serve as the medic there" Erwin resumed
She asked "When do I leave?"
"As early as tomorrow morning" He sighed "Preferably 8 am sharp"
8 am? Vien frowned That means I won't be able to see the Special Ops squad before I leave, and I don't know how long I'll be gone either
"Understood?" "......Yes sir"
Erwin showed a satisfied smile. He could sense the hint of sadness in her voice but she was the type to stick to her duty no matter what, and he was proud of her for that
"Good, prepare everything needed and sleep early tonight. Dismissed"
Vien faked a smile before exiting the room quietly. Then she decided to inform her medical friends first
She entered the doctor's headquarters and saw the three boys busy doing paperwork on their desks. Vien rarely used her desk here so it was very clean
They all greeted her with a smile, but only Aaron noticed the changed of her mood "You seem down, is everything okay Vien?"
"I've been called to my medical duties at the east training grounds. There's been recent titan reports there so that's why he probably sent me there. I'm not complaining but I was looking forward to see the squad tomorrow" Vien frowned
They all dart their heads to her at the sudden news, with looks of confusion and shock on their faces
"Oh, I remember about the 104th cadets, they'd graduate in 2 weeks so you'll probably be there until then, don't worry" Eric spoke
Francis reassured her "We'll take turns in doing your paperwork so you shouldn't worry about anything except your duties there"
Vien felt a surge of reassurance on her, and it made her smile widely. She was happy to have friends when she needed them the most
Aaron checked the time "Oi, it's sunset. Shouldn't you be preparing your luggage and stuff right now?"
Vien nodded "Well we'll see each other again in 2 weeks. Keep yourselves from trouble till then okay? I'm gonna miss you guys"
Francis acted annoyed "Oi, you're acting like you're going away for a year. Just get your shit ready and make sure to bring everything you need. So stop with all that drama"
"Francis said he'll miss you" Eric laughed "We'll keep everything in shape till you come back. Don't die"
Aaron smiled at her, "Be safe Vien. We'll make sure nothing goes wrong so focus on your well-being"
Vien smiled once more at them, before leaving the quarters. She skipped to her room and prepared her stuff before going to sleep early
