Chapter 16 - Rescue

"Do you think he heard me?" Levi asked Petra, as one of his soldiers passed in front of both of them

Petra frowned, glancing at the deceased man "I'm sure he did"

Levi stared at him sincerely with a frown, but he felt happy that his comrade was now in the hands of eternal peace. "Yes, he's resting peacefully after all. That's good"

He stood up and was called by Erwin, he immediately turned and saw the Commander rushing towards them with his troops

"Levi, take the others and withdraw. I need to do something first, so go ahead" Erwin ordered

The Captain raised a brow "Sure, but what do you still need to do?"

Erwin had a look of dismay on his face as he said "I asked Pixis to lock Vien in the weaponry to keep her out..... but she's missing as of now"

Petra gasped, "Dr. Vien?"

Levi widen his eyes, and readied his 3DM gear. He equipped his blades and told Erwin "Go and deal with the titans heading to the north, I'll go and find her myself"

"Lance Corporal!" Petra gawked at him, and convinced him to stop

Erwin held his arm, "Oi. Levi, the Trost District must be swarming with titans now. Going alone is-"

"I'll meet you at the gates" Levi yank his arm away from Erwin's grasp, and hurried to Trost District

When Levi reached the hot spot, he landed on the roof and scanned the area of cadets fighting the titans. There were titans who approached him behind, so he went to finish them off first. After getting much blood on his hands, Levi began to finish the third titan by blinding it first, but he stopped moving when he saw a familiar girl helping an injured soldier on the rooftops

Levi saw her standing still whilst watching the battlefield with a look of horror, and strayed his attention away to slice the remaining titan's nape till it fell on the ground. He was on the top of the fallen titan's body when he heard someone yell

"ARMIN!" A boy's voice yelled

Vien took her 3DMG and quickly began to swing off the roof towards Armin. Levi immediately knew what she was going to do, so he shot his hooks and caught up to her

But he noticed Vien using too much gas as usual, and she was going too rapidly. Levi yelled out her name angrily but she didn't even notice

Is she.... no, she was aiming for the titan's mouth Levi widen his eyes and had no choice but to consume too much gas to catch up to her

He could only watch in terror as Vien pushed the boy off the moment it shut it's mouth. The boy flew out and crashed loudly on the roof, almost losing his conscience

Levi couldn't believe what he saw, but the surge of anger outweighed his emotions that he immediately went for the certain titan's mouth

He shot his hooks to the lips, and sliced through it excruciatingly deep. It's jaw fell open, and Vien's body fell out before it devoured her. Levi spared a glance at her passed out figure, but he attacked the titan first before going down

Instead of finishing it quickly, Levi didn't go for the nape but kept tormenting the titan to kill it slowly but painfully. After gashing all its limbs, it landed on the ground with a huge sound. He glowered at it angrily before finishing it off by deeply slitting its nape wide open

Levi was exhausted, and realized his pulse was too fast. He could barely even catch his breath, but he quickly scanned the area first. His eyes land on Vien's still body on the ground, then he rushed over to to it. The first he did was check her pulse, and he sighed in relief when she was still breathing. Her body was also burning, which is why she passed out when she almost slid down the titan's throat

"Oi stupid brat, just what were you thinking?" He tried shaking her body to wake her, but she was still unconscious "Can you hear me??"

Levi picked her up, and wrapped her arms around his neck to avoid her from falling. His one hand held her waist while he used his other one to fly with his gear, he went back to where the others waited
