"Pardon?" Vien asked him unsurely

"I'm starting to think you're deaf"

She sighed at him, and rolled her eyes looking away. After placing the pen down, she turned to Levi

Vien chided "You were speaking in the most quiet way possible, how could I comprehend your words?"

"I didn't" Levi continued to argue

"Well if you say so, Captain" Vien concluded with a sarcastic smile, which the man rolled his eyes at

They both continued bickering at each other, before Vien focused back on the papers, even if he still wanted to argue back. Vien ignored any of his complaints and spent a thirty minutes in silence. Levi kept shifting in his seat, as he was bored with the silence between the two and dreading to make tea outside

"Are you okay Levi?" Vien noticed his actions and glanced at him

"Yes I am" "You can go make tea"

After the doctor simply guessed his intentions, he flicked his eyes towards her in shock. He began to wonder if his behavior gave it out, or if Vien found him very predictable. Did I mention tea?

Levi sat his back straight, and then leaned his arms on the desk as he looked straight at her "I was going to make one, how did you know?"

"It's currently 10:36 pm, which is past six minutes on your usual last cup. You also kept darting your eyes at that tea tray, am I right?" A small smirk formed on her lips

Levi himself didn't pay too much attention to his actions to mind the small details of it, but somehow Vien could read him so easily. He already noticed it ever since the girl started finishing his sentences or doing things he'd ought to do without saying anything, but this time he was going to talk about it

"Vien," He called "Do you find me that easy to read? Or are you just incredibly observant around you?"

"Hm, I think it's both of them?"

Her eyes looked up to the Captain's confused gaze, and she couldn't help but smile and chuckle. When Vien was about to continue her work, a curve that she never thought would see, formed on the Captain's lips. A chilling yet warm sensation sparked through her when she noticed. Upon flicking her eyes back up, he widen his eyes and realized what he did. The look on her shocked face made him drop his smile in embarrassment

"Wait, Captain did you just-"

"I didn't" He gestured to stop her from continuing what she'd say

The retorts he blurted confirmed to Vien that he did actually smile, so she covered her mouth to muffle her gasps. Levi stopped blabbering when she stood and smiled widely

"You did smile! I saw it just now!"

Levi closed his eyes, sighing heavily as he directed a finger at her "Vien no, I was just stretching my jaw muscles I never smiled"

She put her index finger on the end of her lips, speaking in an excited tone "Then stretch it again Levi"

"Tch, It'll look weird" He retorted

Vien still continued to demonstrate it by stretching her lips with her finger to form a smile. Levi was watching her quietly, but a hint of joy was shown on his face. The sight of Vien joking around despite just escaping the brink of death and her injury, lightened his mood for some reason unknown to him

Levi spoke lowly "Why is me smiling that amusing for you?"

Vien replied "Ohhh, well I realized that you always had a blunt facial expression, and I thought lessening your work would make you happy at least once. But nothing seemed to work for you until now. I don't know what was the reason for it, but it would be nice to see it again"
