"I never said I was
trying to look pretty anyways"
                              ---
                              Vien's POV
I woke up early as usual, especially since today was special. Today's finally when I'd meet my first titan. And despite Captain calling me a crazy for being excited, I still looked forward to the expedition
Also hearing from Mike that Hanji had to wake him up this morning, I assumed he was finally getting enough sleep. Awhile ago, he also ate his meals instead of drinking tea. I suppose all the stubbornness I endured on those days payed off
It was time for us to wear our gear and mount the horses, so we all proceeded to the stables. Hanji went to talk to the Captain, so I also had a chance to speak with Aaron
"Look at you, you're like an actual soldier" I happily approached him
Aaron laughs "So are you! By the way is that a skirt? I didn't know the scouts had uniforms like that"
Vien chuckled "I asked Erwin for one, he knows how much I love skirts. And we're just going to be waiting in the wagon all the time, using 3DMG isn't needed anyways"
"Oh," He nodded "Your scratch is already healing fast by the way"
I dabbed my cheek, and the wound wasn't as painful as before. We both laughed when I didn't wince in pain "Yup, I guess it actually is. Thanks for helping me back then"
His facial expression softened, as he spoke calmly "By the way, you look pretty with your hair down"
I didn't respond, as I was flustered. Hanji approached us from behind, and tapped Aaron's shoulder "Let's get going, the gates will open soon"
Vien smiled at Aaron, before she watched them leave. She didn't notice Levi staring at her weirdly
"Oi, get on your horse. And tie your hair. It'll block your vision later"
I saluted him and tied my hair hesitantly, it was still wet so it would be too messy to get in place
He stared at her weirdly "What are you doing?" He's talkative today, now I'm pretty sure he slept well
"It'd be out of place once it dries"
"So?" He bluntly responds, "Trying to look pretty in the battlefield will blind you from the real mission"
I scoffed in disagreement, "I'm not blinded. And I never said I was trying to look pretty anyways"
Levi glanced at me and noticed that I was eyeing him suspiciously, so he glared at me to scare me off
Erwin's voice took my attention away from Levi, he shouted "Once these gates open, we will advance forward to titan territory. Make sure to give it all you've got, this is one step forward for humanity. And don't die, that's a command"
My eyes sparkled, watching Erwin speak so seriously. I've never seen him like this yet, and to think I was now a part of this experience made me scared, yet full of excitement
The breathtaking scene of the huge gates opening before my very eyes made me gasp in excitement. The moment was finally arriving, Vien
She didn't notice that Levi glanced at her shortly, before focusing back on the gates. They all waited for the Commander's forward signal
                              "ADVANCE!"
Vien held the reins and charged forward with the rest. She was placed between their squad formation so she had to slow her pace down a bit
She gazed around the scenery and took a swift inhale of fresh air. She hasn't been to her old home for years thus she missed seeing the sight of deep forest mountains
There were no titans for the first 20 minutes, and the travel was going smoothly. Erwin yelled "This is where we separate, Mike you lead them to the northeast mountains. The base should be built there"
"10 metre class approaching from the northeast!" Yelled a soldier
Vien darted her eyes to the direction and laid her eyes on the giant, they were right. It was huge and had a scary face. The speed of it was also unbelievable. All she could do was gawk at the sight, it was after all the first titan she saw
Levi averted his gaze to Vien, he spoke sternly "Oi Vien, keep your eyes front. The squads responsible for the base will handle the titan"
She forced herself to look away as the squads charged the titan, then kept her eyes straight. Focus on the mission, Vien, you can't be distracted. You can die any moment
When the remaining squads arrived at the forest opening, Erwin warned them about being in open titan territory. Vien glanced at the Captain, and his expression was still the same. But she could tell he was focused on the mission, just like the rest of his squadmates
Erwin signalled them to halt, so they stopped in a wide area deep in the forest. All of them got down their horses, as the leaders went to set up the titan trap. Gunther, and Eld stationed the medical wagon near the bushes to keep it hidden
"Medics please station near the wagon, and stay hidden from the sunlight where titans can't see you"
Vien listened to Erwin, and the leaders stationed on the tree branches watched as she ran towards Aaron. Hanji laughed
"Look at them, Aaron kept talking about her with the other medics. Aren't they cute?" Hanji chuckled
Levi lowly responds "Tch. I would suggest separating those medical brats. Just look, how could they be joking around at a time like this?"
Erwin said, "Dr. Vien would know when to stop talking. And they're hidden from sunlight, so staying alert would be simple. Right Levi?"
Hanji tried keeping her laughter in, and Levi glared at her as a result
Half an hour passed and the there was still no titans in sight. Hanji and Erwin noticed Levi was more energetic than usual, and she also caught him looking towards the medical wagon's direction often
Why does he keep looking down? It's like he's watching for titans in that direction. Is he perhaps worried about Dr. Vien's safety?
Hanji chuckled to herself, making the Captain glance at her weirdly
"Is laughing alone a new hobby of yours four eyes? You can get your bratty doctor to help you with your mental insanity" He rolls his eyes
"Stop calling Aaron bratty, I'm sure Vien wouldn't want to hear someone call her friend a brat"
He looked away "I don't give a crap on what she wants. I'll gladly call him brat everyday if I wanted to"
She waited for the opportunity, and yelled only for Levi to hear "A titan near the medics! It's an abnormal!"
Levi gave an unimpressed scoff, his gaze not leaving the trap "You have to better than that shitty four eyes"
Minutes later, they all hear loud thuds. It had to be a titan so they all got their gear ready, including the medics. One of the soldiers near the opening yelled loudly
"Two 10 metre classes and one 12 metre class coming from South!"
Hanji then instructed her stationed soldiers to charge the titan, and so they did. They were too many to lure to the trap at once so they had to get rid of few, if not at least, all
Just few seconds later, all the three titans were ridden off, but another batch of titans surged in from all directions except the dark areas where the medics were stationed. Most of the soldiers had no choice but to fight, Hanji frowned "There are a lot of titans than the usual.."
"I'll have to get all their filth on me again," Levi grunted, before they began to face titans with the rest
