"W-what's beautiful?"
"You"
---
Levi grabbed his collar to inches from his face, and spat "Do you want to do it again in front of me?"
"Lance Corporal Levi" He heard him mutter as the older man's eyes widen. Using his arms to escape Levi's grasp, he took his chance to run and nearly fell in the process
Vien stared at the man running away, and she was immediately dragged away by the wrist before she could even receive what she bought. Since she owed him big after Levi stepped in, she didn't argue back and kept silent instead
Levi dragged her away from the stalls without saying a thing, and finally let her go when they stopped in a less crowded area
"I- sorry for that" She looked away
Levi turned to her, and asked in his usual tone "Did he hurt you Vien?"
Since she didn't reply, he held her wrists and looked for any bruises, if her cast was touched, or if he laid a finger on her face. Levi held her visage up with her chin and examined it out of panic and worry
Vien held his hands, and brought it down from her face "I'm fine Levi, I could've handled it by myself-"
"I'm sorry, it's my fault. I already knew there were tons of perverted scums here yet I let you go alone"
Her eyes darted towards his with a look of confusion. The eyes she saw were always the typical flat ones, but those deep circles that always seemed empty was now filled with clear concern and it was something new to her. Levi's sincere side always showed itself at the most unexpected times, and she didn't know whether she liked it or not
"Wait, no Levi it's not your fault if that jerk chose to come and mess with me at that very moment" Vien assured him "I won't blame you for my misfortunes. Don't dwell on it"
Levi's lips curve up at her smile
"Then it wasn't your fault either"
The seconds passed by without the two replying, and without them noticing, the town's noise gradually faded when their consciousness confined itself to a different world
Vien and Levi fell into each other's traps, and both were stuck in their locked gazes. The way her eyes glistened, and her smile alone was able to enthrall him in a way he saw no one else but Vien, and Vien only. His eyes couldn't help but widen, when he didn't expect the beautitude that would come, just by seeing her beautiful face from up close. And he didn't know why, but he found himself leaning closer
When Levi was about to lean in further, they got interrupted by a chorus of loud steps and yelling
Connie's voice chimed loudly
"Dr. Vien we're back alr- WHAT-"
Upon hearing their voices, Vien snapped out of her daze and immediately pushed herself away from Levi. She widened her eyes, and turned to the cadets who also had the same expression on their faces. Levi saw the look on Vien's face, so he trailed after it and when it landed on the cadets, he sighed
Their mouths were left wide agape, and Vien already knew where it was leading to. Just about to open her mouth for an explanation, they looked away and hurried to mount their horses, starting to whisper
Soon enough, the rest of the cadets started holding in their chuckles and teasing. Vien closed her eyes in frustration, and turned away. Levi stared at her, as she mounted her horse "Let's go before we get stuck"
