"Erwin Smith's younger sister?"
"That's Vien Smith of the Special Ops Squad, she's exceptionally intelligent and skilled in several fields" Explained the other man
"They're planning to reclaim Wall Maria by this week, and with a polymath like her on their side, it will be a huge problem for us if she gets to see our state. She'll be able to figure things out twenty steps further than what we're capable of. Dr. Smith could make up several conjectures only by mere glance"
The other one resumed "And it always turns out to be true. She may be lackluster in maneuver gear, but her inordinate logical abilities is a huge step forward for them. It can cause trouble for us"
"Is that so?" A middle aged man asked, going deep into his thought
"She's also the reason why they were able to retrieve Eren before"
They stared at the man who was busy with his thoughts. It took a few minutes before the silence broke between the three of them
When the man made a decision, he spoke "If you see her, then mark the girl as one of our main targets"
---
"Good evening Levi, why didn't you come out for dinner?" Vien asked, as she entered the office with a tray
His eyes didn't leave the papers. It was a busy night for the everyone, especially the leaders. Even Vien was busy making preparations, but she finished everything at once so she could spend time with Captain
But, he looks too engraved in work to even notice Vien standing there
Vien placed the tray on the sides, and talked to him "You shouldn't stress yourself too much Levi, can't we go out for a little night stroll?"
"I can't go right now" Levi bluntly replied, eyes glued on the papers. His eyes flick up and down as he read the words, and it was like he was using too much of his energy
"Cooome on, we don't know if we can even live through tomorrow"
She laid her head on his desk, and he rolled his eyes at her 'joke'. Vien sighed as she continued to whine him out of his paperwork, because she was itching to spend time with him before the Wall Maria expedition tomorrow. Although Levi, was taking every second of the night seriously that he was more into his papers as of now
"Don't make jokes like that Vien, it's not funny" Levi scoffed "And you should be getting rest right now, why are you still awake this late?"
"Erwin was saying the same thing to me just now, that's why I came from his office" She chuckled lowly
Levi's eyebrows furrowed when she placed a bracelet beside his papers. He held it up "What's this?"
She raised her arm up, showing another same kind of bracelet on her wrist "Ta-da, we have the same! Aren't they the cutest, Levi?"
A faint smile curved up "Mhm, they sure are. What's this thing here?"
"Look" She held his bracelet, and moved the half shaped heart on it towards the other half on hers "It forms a heart. I made it myself!!"
It was a half heart-shaped magnet that formed a heart once put near each other. She made it this noon
Levi chuckled, and smiled at the excited grin on her face "You're such a genius, I'll be sure to use it"
"You better" She gave it back to him with a jokingly warning expression
Her heart was warming with utter joy as she watched him slip the bracelet on. Even though Levi confined his attention back to his papers, she felt the happiest just by watching him in silence. His face was just like the awfully beautiful asterisms occupying the night sky, that Vien could stare at it forever
"Stop staring at me like that, Vien"
"Why?" Whined Vien, "I just want to spend time with you before we recapture Wall Maria tomorrow"
"I can't go out angel, not right now alright?" Levi pulled her up by the wrist, leading her towards his lap where the girl comfortably sat on
"What if the world ends tomorrow"
"Yeah right" Levi scoffs quietly, as he let her head rest on his shoulder
"I wanna play around the rooftop like we usually do, can't you spare a few minutes?" Her pleads accompanied a frown on her face
Levi held her cheeks perfectly into his hands, gazing deeply into her eyes that were pleading him. All he did was chuckle at the sight of it. It caused a sullen look to appear on her face - Levi pecks her lips lightly
"I promise, once we get out of those walls, we'll play round the rooftops as long as you want. We'll find as much daisies as we can. And we'll do everything you love to do. Didn't I promise to make your dream come true? We'll be a step closer to that goal once the mission is over"
His words surged a strong wave of reassurance to her, and Levi knew it once Vien's lips curved up a little
"We will never part ways, because I'll always be by your side. Having each other's back is our specialty right? No matted how much shitty the shittiest situations can be - as long as you're there, I know everything's going to be better"
"That's why I deeply trust in you, Vien. Someone like me lowered their guard on you so much, so powerful that it could destroy me in a heartbeat. But you never took advantage of that. I don't know what you saw in a worthless rat like me, but whatever it was, I'm thankful you knew it.. I-I'm just-"
His words were trailing off, and the shaking of his voice was audible. Levi couldn't even process what he said. It all just fell out like an effortless exhalation of his breath
Vien heavily sensed the longing in his eyes, it pained her yet brought so much joy at the same time - and it was the same for him. She brought her arms up, and wiped the tear off before it streamed to his cheek. Levi was definitely his strongest, yet weakest around her. Incredibly weak, that the mere fact of having someone who loves you the same way you love them, was making his heart wretch in happiness. He loved it so much that it rendered him speechless. And she already knew because eyes tell
"You don't know it, because you don't look at yourself the way I do" She cupped his cheeks, wiping more of his tears "The worthless rat you describe is the entire world to me. That's all you need to know"
Snugging closer to her, he soothed her hair, calmly saying "I love you"
"And I'll always be here to say it back, okay? - I love you too, Levi"
