"Welcome to your new home Mrs. Davenport." Big D said, warmly, stepping into the house. Big D held Tasha in his arms, carrying her bridal style. "Why thank you Mr. Davenport." she thanked him, smiling. "Absolutely, Mrs. Davenport." Big D answered, leaning in to kiss her.
Meanwhile, I was busy lugging boxes, settling into this new place since Dad wanted a fresh start with his new wife and her son. Right now, I'm moving into my new house since my Dad wanted to start fresh with his newly wed and her son. "We get it you got married." Leo deadpanned. "It's getting old." I added, rolling my eyes as I set down another suitcase. We placed our bags down and immediately decided to look around the house. "Whoa!" I exclaimed. "You bought this huge place just from inventing things?!" Leo questioned, as Big D nodded proudly. "That's right."
"Way to go, Mom! Now that's a husband." I could tell he was thrilled, mostly because he'd soon be meddling with gadgets he had no business touching. He kept reminding me that his middle name was Danger. I felt a bit of excitement too; the house was amazing!
Curiosity pulled me over to the couch by the TV. "Uh... what is that?" I asked, pointing to a futuristic-looking screen. Big D grinned. "Meet Davenport Industries' first fully interactive 3D TV." He pressed a button, and the screen flashed, instantly creating the illusion of a live baseball game in front of us. I barely had time to be impressed before the ball appeared to zoom toward Leo. He lunged for it, smacked into the wall, and what seemed to be a face appeared on the screen. "Watch the face, termite!" snapped the digital face, Eddy. I remember him back from my childhood days. Let's just say we had very interesting interactions.
"Uh-oh, I think the little voice inside my head is back." I giggled at Leo's baffled expression but he sent a glare my way in response, which I ignored. Davenport quickly clarified for the sake of Leo. "Eddy this is my new step-son, Leo and you know Dawn. Remember I told you Leo, Dawn and Tasha are moving in today." Eddy's response was blunt. "Everything here is mine."
"Oh, I'll show you what's yours." I muttered, already getting annoyed. "Oh no." Leo said, holding me back by my arms. "Dawn, why don't you guys go check out your new rooms? Go straight down the hall. When you see the room with the video games, action figures, and the 50-foot TV..." He paused for effect, just as Leo and I were about to lose our minds with excitement. "...keep going—that one's mine."
"Gee, thanks, Dad." I muttered sarcastically. I turned to Leo, grabbing his arm, running in a random direction. "Let's go."
The house was enormous, and every turn revealed more surprises. "This place is massive." I said in awe. "I think I'll need a GPS just to find the bathroom." Leo echoed, leaning against a wall. Suddenly, a hidden door clicked open behind him. We exchanged startled looks, curiosity sparking again. We stepped inside, and before we knew it, the elevator dropped at lightning speed. Both of us screamed, clutching each other as we plunged into whatever awaited us below.
