"Hey guys, check it out

"Hey guys, check it out. We just got our first pay checks from Tech Town." Adam crouched near a row of bowling pins when Chase announced our presence. Leo glanced up as we all entered the lab, grinning, pay stubs clutched proudly in our hands.

"Nice! What are you going to spend it on? A video game? New kicks? A birthday gift for a sibling who wants a video game and new kicks?" Leo teased, clearly hinting at himself. "Nope." Chase said with a grin. "I'm gonna open a savings account."

At Chase's answer, Adam hung his head low in disappointment, with the rest of us shooting him puzzled looks. "I want to like you, but you make it so hard." Bree remarked, walking past us. Unfazed by our reactions, Chase lifted the sleek new phone the job had given us. Leo's jaw practically dropped, his eyes widening in disbelief, momentarily forgetting that Chase always weighs every penny before deciding when—or even if—to spend or save. "The job also comes with perks." "The new ePhone 7?! Those aren't even out yet! How'd you get one?"

"Well, Leo, as a rising star of the Tech Town empire—" Chase began, but I cut him off before he could spin his usual tale, spilling the truth. "—We all got one." Bree and I chimed in, waving our phones in the air, proving the point. "People are already lined up for the big release Friday. You should've seen the crazy looks in their eyes when I walked by with this thing." Chase described our day as Bree exited the lab, whereas Leo stared at the phone with the exact crazed look Chase was describing. "Yup that's the look." "This version's got a new auto-centering feature to help you take better selfies." Leo stated, snatching the phone from his hands and flipping the camera toward himself, striking a pose and snapped a quick selfie.

When he brought the phone closer to inspect the picture, we all instinctively cringed. Leo frowned, shaking his head. "Yeah, I don't photograph well."

"Point that bad boy over here. You're gonna want to record this perfection." Adam said, rising from his crouched position with a bowling ball in hand, a smug grin on his face. Leo switched his phone to video mode, got the camera rolling, and started recording, as per request. "I'm Adam Davenport, and this is 'Bionic Bowling.'"

Leo circled around him like a documentary cameraman. "Adam is six-foot-two, a rare combination of incredible strength and not much else." he muttered as the bionic child got into position. Adam squared up, took aim, and launched the ball with a burst of super strength. It shot down the lane like a cannonball and obliterated all the pins with a satisfying crash.

"Oh, yeah! Ohh!"

"Whoo!"

...

Chase, eager to go next, snatched the bowling ball from Adam's hands and turned to face the camera.

"I'm Chase Davenport, and this is 'Molecular Kinesis Bowling'." We all shook our heads at the cheesy delivery as he stepped into position. Leo, naturally, couldn't resist adding his own commentary. "A native of Mission Creek, Chase's hobbies include being a tattle-tale and creeping out girls."
