Walking down the long hallway toward the lab, Davenport couldn't contain his excitement, singing in a cheerful rhythm, since he had gotten a new lab. "I got a new lab, I got a new lab, I got a new lab!" "Whoa, whoa, whoa." Bree cut in sharply, rolling her eyes. "Pretty sure you mean we got a new lab."

"Uh, excuse me?" Davenport stopped mid-step and turned to us, arching his eyebrows in mock offense. He gestured dramatically between us and the massive doors looming ahead. "Did we pay to rebuild it?" Bree arched a brow, a mischievous grin tugging at her lips. "Did you sleep in a glass box?" she shot back, her tone filled with smug. His silence was answer enough. With an exaggerated sigh, he threw up his hands and launched back into song—this time getting it right. "We got a new lab, we got a new lab!"

Chase and Leo laughed and joined in, mimicking his dance moves as they shuffled toward the doors. Davenport spread his arms wide, his voice booming with pride. "And here it is!"

The heavy doors slid open with a soft hydraulic hiss, revealing the lab in all its shining glory. My breath caught in my throat. Even though I had helped Dad with the designs, nothing could have prepared me for seeing it come to life. The place stretched out before us, vast and gleaming with new technology. Smooth metal walls reflected the glow of overhead lights, while transparent panels displayed rows of state-of-the-art equipment. Consoles hummed softly, their screens alive with color, and glass tubes lined one side of the room, filled with neatly arranged tools and supplies. We all stepped inside as the doors sealed shut behind us.

"Whoa..." I whispered, just as awestruck as the others. "Guys, look at all these upgrades. Mr. Davenport, this place is amazing." Chase complimented, still in awe as our father was leaning casually on Leo, smirking. "Of course it is. I designed it."

"Ahem." Leo and I coughed. Oh, yeah. I forgot Leo helped a little too.

Davenport froze acknowledging our interruption, then sighed dramatically. "Oh, right. We designed it. We, we!" His exasperation was almost comical, but he quickly recovered with a calming sigh, stepping forward with a showman's flair. "Upgraded capsules—bam!" He kicked his leg up like a magician revealing a trick. "Quantum-processing supercomputer—bam!" Another exaggerated stomp. Leo mirrored him, raising his leg in perfect sync, grinning. "Four-dimensional combat simulator—bam!" Davenport spun with theatrical pride. "This, my friends, is what a multi-million-dollar makeover looks like!"

"Is there a mini-fridge?" Adam asked hopefully, ignoring the lab introduction. "No." Davenport shook his head, still beaming. Adam leaned toward me with mock seriousness. "I bet our real dad's lab has a mini-fridge."

I smirked, my thoughts drifting back to when I kept telling Davenport he should let Adam have a say in the lab's design. Knowing Adam, he would've added something simple but actually useful—like a mini-fridge. "Yeah, I kept telling him to ask you to help us." Adam shot his dad a devasting look while Leo gasped, clutching his chest in mock offense. Before the teasing could continue, Bree stepped forward, gesturing to the far corner, where the computer once was. "Hey, guys, where's your workstation?"
