Adam Up

Adam, Bree, Chase and I were training on a virtual training platform dressed in our suits. This was my first time fighting in virtual reality and it was so cool. When we finished fighting the last enemies, we took our glasses off and stood next to Leo. "Great job, guys. You just took out an entire unit of virtual cyborgs." "I think it's sad that you have to invent people to play with you." Eddy remarked as he appeared on the screen and left again. "All right Leo, I'm off the clock. Let's get outta here." Adam said to Leo and as they were heading out, Chase stopped them. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Just 'cause Mr. Davenport's away doesn't mean we stop training." Chase said, making us groan in annoyance. "How do you think I feel? I'm missing a four-hour documentary on the history of the Printing Press." Chase continued. I, along with the others looked at him weird. "Really?"
"But Leo and I were gonna play human bull's-eye bounce." He explained but as he saw our confused looks he continued. "Don't worry, it's way more dangerous than it sounds."
"Human bull's-eye bounce." He repeated slowly, trying to process his brother's mindset. "Is there any way you can get a good enough bounce to land in the emergency room? 'Cause that would save us a lot of time." He gestured between the three of us. "Nope. He's right, Adam. As much as I enjoy watching you get hurt and -- I really do-" She giggled "-We have to train." Bree agreed.
"Oh, come on! The adults are away! If we don't take advantage by doing something destructive, we're no better than..." Leo looked Chase up and down with a distaste look on his face. "...Chase."
"I'm sorry, but unless he can be in two places at once, he's training. Come on, let's get the bo staffs." Chase said. I was about to grab the bo staff but I stopped in my tracks at Adam's voice.
"Oh man, I never get to do what I want. It's not fair."

"Aww. Are all of your cool bionic abilities and top-secret missions getting you down?" Bree asked him, sarcastically. "Oh, thanks Bree. I knew you'd understand." Adam took her sarcasm seriously and we rolled our eyes. Chase and Bree left to grab the bo staff and Adam pouted and turned to me. "C'mon, Dawn. What about you? You love this stuff."

"Yeah, I do but as much as I would love to join you I'm gonna go train. I actually love using the virtual reality to train and kicking butt. It's all blowing my mind."

"And?" Leo asked, raising an eyebrow, probably knowing there's more to my explanation that I'm not revealing. He knows me well. "And I do not wanna get on Davenport's bad side. Again."

"But you know what else could blow your mind?" Adam asked me, smirking. "What?!" I exclaimed with a smile. "Human bull's eye bounce." Adam matched my energy. My smile dropped and I rolled my eyes. "I should've seen that coming." I muttered and followed Bree and Chase.

Bree, Chase and I entered the lab holding the four bo staffs that we're going to use. I handed one to Adam and we stepped on the simulator. "All right. Break's over. Fire up the simulator. Adam, please remember: the cyborgs are fake, but I am real." he reminded Adam. "Just one question: is this real?" He questioned and hit Chase. "Ow! Why did you do that?" "Because real pain's funnier than fake pain." He replied and hit Chase again, this time on his back. I walked closer to Chase and hit Chase with my bo staff. "Ow!" He yelled and glared at me. "You're right." I turned to Adam and high-fived him. "You're a genius? Ha! Even I saw that coming." Bree scoffed and Adam turned to her and they did a handshake.

Bree, Chase and I went to school after training but I don't really know where Leo and Adam were. As we were talking among ourselves Perry walked up to us after she went down the stairs. "Hey. Hansel, Gretel and Sasquatch. My niece is visiting from.... um... " She looked up trying to recall the place but shrugged. "...wherever she lives, and Im'ma assign you three to be chaperones for a couple of days."
"Oh, uh... well, see, I can't... 'cause I gotta be..." Chase started to decline and we all started to decline her offer all at once. "We are so sorry." "Yeah, lots of homework to do..." I trailed on. We all got cut off by her. "Oh, that's so cute. You think you have a choice." she taunted and laughed. "Ha ha ha ha ha!"
