Adam, Bree and I were next to his locker when someone called out to us. "Oh, terribly sorry to trouble you, but could you help me find me locker?"
"I-I'm sorry, I don't speak leprechaun." Adam said. The foreigner looked at him blankly while Bree chuckled. "But he is fluent in doofus. " She went over to him and grabbed his paper and looked at the direction he needed to go and gave him back the paper. "Oh, you're right there at 324." "Brilliant."
"Mm-hmm." she shrugged and smiled and as we were going our separate ways he told us his name. "Oh! I'm Alistair, by the way. Foreign exchange student from Ireland." He shook Bree and I's hands. "Oh. Nice to meet you, Alistair. I'm Bree, and this is my brother Adam and my little sister, Dawn. We can show you around and he...can show you how to warm up a sandwich in your armpit." She told him. "Mmm. But I'm warning you, the cheese sticks are gonna get messy."
As he nodded unsurely I smiled at him. "Welcome to America." "Cheers." He tipped his hat and walked towards his destination. "Wait a second. New kid? From a foreign country? Do you know what that means?" "That you're not the only one we'll have to speak slowly to?" I said, raising my eyebrow. Adam turned to him as he stood in front of his locker. "No. He's a bionic spy." We both made a face like we were finding hard to believe what Adam was saying. As he took notice of our faces he elaborated. "Well, think about it. Marcus was the 'new kid,' and look what happened with him. We can't take any chances." He sighed and turned towards the new kid again. " You hold him down, I'll strip him for parts." When he was about to leave, Bree grabbed his arm. "No! Adam, you are overreacting." Bree argued, rolling her eyes. "Yeah, Alistair seems like a nice guy."

We waved at each other from a distance as the new kid turned towards us. "You know who also seemed like a nice guy? Marcus! Next thing you know, Dawn he's gonna have a crush on you and boom you'll get betrayed all over again. Alistair's a bionic spy and I'm gonna prove it. Even if I have to learn how to speak Ireland-ish."

As Adam walked away and Bree rolled her eyes, I looked at Alistair with wide eyes. "Hate to say it, Bree but Adam has a point." I grabbed her shoulders. "Trust no one."
...

Later in the day Adam and I had the same class which was gym class and as I was stretching, I got thirsty. "Oh, hey, Adam, Toss me my water bottle." I said as he did I missed because I was too short, resulting in the new kid grabbing the bottle with one hand instead. "Wow!" I gasped. "I believe this is yours." He handed me my bottle. I looked at him confused as Adam made his way towards us. "How'd you grab that so fast?" "Yeah!" He stepped in front of me and got into his face. "How'd you do that?"
He shrugged. "Must be me quick reflexes." Adam turned his face towards me and mouthed 'bionic spy'. "Or maybe it's just the luck of the Irish! No? Not--not digging the Irish?" Adam shook his head. "I can do American. I like pick-up trucks, spring break, and extra-large portions. Yee-haw!" He said in an American accent and did a little dance. He was about to go sit down but I stopped him. "Wait, what happened to your accent?" I asked. Was he really...Irish?
"Pretty cool, huh? It's one of me special abilities. I can sound like almost anybody. French, German. Russian; It is a pleasure to be in your country." He said in a Russian accent.
"Wow. That's pretty impressive." I exchanged a look with Adam.
"There's plenty more where that came from, sweetheart. Hey, some day, and that day may never come, maybe you'll do an impression for me, yeah?" He said in an New York accent, stroked his chin and walked away. We exchanged looks of disbelief. "Did you hear that? He said 'special abilities.'" "I know. And remember that was gonna be your secret hidden ability." he looked at me, blankly. "To speak Russian, man!" He gasped in realization. "Yeah!" But then he sighed and shrugged. "But my old Italian guy's way better than his."

...
The next day we were in the cafeteria looking at the new kid. "Okay. Before we do anything drastic, we need proof that Alistair's a bionic spy." Bree said as we kept her updated. "Right. Go into mission mode." He moved his hand in front of his face and changed his expression. "Okay, I'll interrogate him and see if he slips up, but we have to be subtle. So, let me handle this."
"Hey, I'm subtle thank you very much." I leaned on the table next to us, only for a plate to fall and food to go everywhere. Bree raised her eyebrows at me and Adam to stay in the exact position. "See? So subtle." I muttered, making her roll her eyes. "Right. Go into subtle mode." he moved his hand again but his facial expression didn't change. We then walked over to his table. "So, Alistair. What brings you to America?" Bree asked as Adam crouched on the other side of him with a subtle expression on his face. "Well, it's a beautiful country and the people are-
" We pretended to care by nodding our heads but he stopped and turned slowly to see Adam up in his face. "What are you doing?" "What are you doing?"
