Adam, Bree, and I were standing by his locker when someone suddenly called out to us

Adam, Bree, and I were standing by his locker when someone suddenly called out to us. "Oh, terribly sorry to trouble you." a boy with a foreign accent said politely, holding a piece of paper and looking slightly lost. "But could you help me find me locker?" Adam squinted at him for a moment. "I—I'm sorry, I don't speak leprechaun." he said, scrunching his brows, making me shook my head at him. The foreigner just stared at him blankly while Bree snorted with laughter.

"But he is fluent in doofus." she said, stepping forward and taking the paper from the boy's hand. She studied it for a second, then pointed down the hallway. "Oh, you're right there. Locker 324."

"Brilliant." the boy said with a relieved smile. "Mm-hmm." Bree replied, shrugging and handing the paper back with a friendly smile and as we started to head our separate ways, he called after us again. "Oh! I didn't catch your names. I'm Alistair. Foreign exchange student from Ireland." he said, smiling politely as he shook Bree's hand and then mine. "Oh, nice to meet you, Alistair." Bree said warmly. "I'm Bree, this is my brother Adam, and this is my little sister, Dawn. We can show you around, and he..." she nodded toward Adam. "...can show you how to warm up a sandwich in your armpit."

"Mmm. But I'm warning you, the cheese sticks are gonna get messy." Adam grinned like it was some kind of accomplishment whilst Alistair nodded slowly, clearly unsure how to respond to that. I gave him an apologetic smile. "Welcome to America." "Cheers." he greeted back, tipping his hat slightly before walking toward his locker. Adam suddenly froze, staring after him. "Wait a second. New kid? From a foreign country? Do you know what that means?"

"That you're not the only one we'll have to speak slowly to?" I said, raising an eyebrow. Adam ignored me and stepped closer, lowering his voice dramatically. "No. He's a bionic spy."

We both made faces, clearly finding it hard to believe what Adam was saying. Noticing our skeptical expressions, he leaned in slightly and elaborated. "Well, think about it." he said, voice low and serious. "Marcus was the 'new kid,' and look what happened with him. We can't take any chances." He let out a long sigh and turned back toward Alistair, making me frown at the thought "him."

"You hold him down." Adam continued, his tone deadly serious. "I'll strip him for parts." Just as he started to walk away, Bree grabbed his arm. "No! Adam, you are totally overreacting." she said, rolling her eyes. "Yeah, Alistair seems like a nice guy, Adam. We can't jump to conclusions because of that one guy." I urgently whispered to him before he does something reckless.

At those words, we waved at each other from across the hallway as the new kid turned to leave, a small smile tugging at his lips. "You know who else seemed like a nice guy? Marcus!" Adam shouted after him, pacing slightly. "Next thing you know, Dawn, he's gonna have a crush on you, and boom—you'll get betrayed all over again! Alistair's a bionic spy, and I'm gonna prove it. Even if I have to learn how to speak Ireland-ish." As Adam stomped off, Bree rolled her eyes so hard I thought she might sprain something. My eyes widened, Adam's words getting into my head. I turned to watch Alistair, who paused mid-step to glance back at us, completely unaware of the chaos Adam had just unleashed.
