"Students of Mission Creek, please welcome your bionic super humans!" As Graham's voice echoed through the hallways, the anticipation in the air was palpable. The students of Mission Creek, were scattered along the corridor, their applause and cheers creating a lively cacophony that reverberated off the walls. Flashbulbs from cameras flickered incessantly, capturing every moment of our entrance. "And our trusty little mascot Chase." Adam chimed in, his tone dripping with a hint of jest, patting Chase's shoulder and patting his chest. Chase knocked his hand off and Adam retaliated by punching his hand as Graham spoke to the cameras. "Now that I'm in charge of the bionic team, I'm gonna be taking them to a whole new level. Believe me, you're going to be seeing a lot more of us." His confident proclamation left no doubt that we were in for a whirlwind ride.
"Wow, this is amazing. It's like we're celebrities." Chase couldn't help but comment on the surreal scene unfolding around us. I chuckled, sharing in the amusement and noticed cameras taking our picture. "Tell me about it. Yesterday, I got a package filled with chocolate and I actually got a popcorn machine. Life's going great." I chuckled, along with Chase, stocked that people fell for my words at the conference. Don't judge. I deserve it.
"We are. And this is just the beginning." Graham's presence loomed nearby, a guiding figure with his hand resting on Chase's shoulder. He left and turned to continue speaking for the cameras, outlining his vision for our future, assuring that we'd be a constant presence in the spotlight. As Graham moved away, Bree turned to us with a mix of skepticism. "I can't believe that people are so shallow, they only like us because we're bionic." she remarked before her expression brightened. "This is awesome!"
Amidst the commotion, my attention shifted to Adam, who was signing a girl's forehead with a permanent marker. "There you go. One forehead autograph for Pam." Her name, Pam, etched across her skin. The girl left with an ecstatic smile, passing Leo, who watched her departure with a perplexed expression. Before I could approach Leo, a swarm of students, enveloped me. They either wanted a photo together or sought an autograph, treating me like an actual celebrity.
The life of a celebrity....
...
"What's so funny?" Donald asked as we entered the lab, our laughter still echoing from the hallway from what Graham said, in the midst of wiping a tear from his eye.
Chase, sighed before responding. "Oh, nothing." "Inside joke. Wouldn't get it." I attempted to dismiss the matter but Adam, ever eager to share a laugh, couldn't resist spilling the beans. "Agent Graham said the most amazing piece of technology in the whole lab is your hair." He relayed what Graham had said earlier. Laughter erupted in the lab, agents and all, as the quip registered with everyone present. Donald, responded with a sarcastic tone. "Ha-ha. Hysterical." He then addressed us directly. "You're 15 minutes late for training." However, before we could delve into our training routine, Graham intervened, speaking for us. "Actually, their training's been put on hold until further notice." He glanced at Donald, who appeared puzzled. "Didn't you read the memo?" Graham teased, knowing full well that Donald wasn't privy to the information. "Oh, that's right. You're not on the memo list."
"They need their training to maintain their bionics, not to mention their missions--" Graham cut him off, his focus unwavering. "Yes, but right now the most important mission is getting our faces out there." He declared with determination.
"That's why we're going on an international press tour." Excitement bubbled within me, and I couldn't help but gasp with enthusiasm. "Tour?" I exclaimed, barely containing my excitement. "Wait, no training, and we get to travel?" Bree asked to obtain confirmation. "Oh, can we go to Paris?" she asked, a bright smile lighting up her face. Gleefully, Graham replied, "Only after we go to London." "Ah! Yes!" Bree's fists clenched in excitement, her joy palpable. "Great. I'll prepare both my accents." I chimed in, my grin stretching wide. "Look, I know we kind of got off on the wrong foot with the whole me arresting you thing." Graham began, but Chase and I waved our hands dismissively, silently conveying our forgiveness. "Hey, just tell me we're going to Des Moines, and all is forgiven." Adam interjected. "Then I guess we're going to Des Moines!"
