"You double-crossed me for the last time, Flo! First, I catch you smuggling fish sticks in your panty hose and then you think you can walk all over me just because you look debonair in a hairnet?" I heard Perry yell, since our table was close by. She was yelling at Flo, the lunch lady as I drank my juice box. We were gathered around the table, waiting for Bree, who was getting her lunch, if you can even call it that.
I look over to them to see what Flo might respond but she said nothing, only continuing her job of slopping food onto trays. I saw Bree glance at her lunch in disgust as she pulled out a long strand of hair. Gross. "Wow, hm, well, I guess the hair net's just for show. Yew!" Flo rolled her eyes as Bree threw the hair onto the floor and walked up to us. "Okay, heads up, stay away from Principal Perry." she advised.
"Trust me, that's the first thing I tell myself every morning when I wake up." Leo remarked as Adam chimed in. "Really? The first thing I tell myself is shaving cream only looks like food." Despite the banter, I was more interested in the conversation behind us though, as I saw Perry pop up next to Flo, giving her a fright. "What's the matter, Flo, nervous? You should be! One more mess-up and I will take--" Flo decided she's had enough and stormed out of the gym as Perry threatened after her. "--you out!" Perry saw me staring and decided to snap at me. "What are you looking at?"
"Do you want me to be honest?" I asked, but she wasn't having it. She walked closer, her face contorted with anger. "Mind your own business! If I wanted to be stared all day I'd still be a catalog model for Burt's Chainsaws." She made a chainsaw and a "Ha!" sounds and walked away while we were stunned of her behaviour.
"Somebody forgot to feed her cats this morning." I muttered, watching her walk away as they snickered of what I said. Just then, Adam started to make weird faces from across the gym. " Adam, what are you doing? Why do you keep making faces like you're taking a selfie?" Bree asked her brother.
" 'Cause that girl Sabrina has been checking me out." Adam replied just as Sabrina was heading towards our table. "Ooh, here she comes." He stood up too so that he could meet her height and smiled. "Hey, Sabrina. I couldn't help but notice you staring at me from across the room." He grinned like it happened everywhere he went.
I stood up also, giving her a sarcastic grin. "Hi Sabrina, the door's actually that way." She rolled her eyes and decided to reply to Adam. Let's just say I do not like Sabrina. "Actually, I was looking at Chase." " Oh, a sense of humor. I like it! So--" Adam started, not believing her, but she ignored him and turned to Chase. "Chase, I wanted to talk to you about our chemistry project?"
" Sure, I'll do it for you. Just give me your email and I'll send it to you when I'm done." He replied in a bored tone, used to the fact that at every project he's the one who has to do all the work and others get to take credit for it. Poor Chase.
She gave a laugh and shook her head as Chase was drinking his juice. "No, I want to do the project with you." At those words Chase spit out his drink, not used to this treatment. "You're what now? " I asked, not believing my ears. " I need a partner and I was hoping you'd team up with me." She, unfortunately, continued. We were all stunned, staring at Sabrina and Chase.
