"Hey, guys

"Hey, guys. How'd the mission go?" Leo and I asked, greeting them with smiles as we stepped into the lab.  "Great." Bree said, turning around with a satisfied smile. "We fixed the Pentagon's communication satellite and returned it to orbit." Chase smirked proudly, already tapping at a console. "I even rigged it so we get every TV channel in the world. Who wants to watch Guatemalan drag racing?!" He gestured at the screen like it was the most normal thing in the world. Leo stepped forward eagerly, hands clasped together. "Did my suggestions come in handy on the mission?" Chase paused mid-motion, fingers hovering over the console. His expression shifted into confusion as he turned his head. "What suggestions?"

Leo blinked, slightly thrown off, then straightened. "I did a ton of strategic research and gave it to Big D." Donald stood near the central console, half-turned toward a glowing screen. He didn't even fully look at Leo when he responded, his hand still moving idly over a control surface. "Oh, right." he said casually, almost absentmindedly. "I'm sorry, Leo. I didn't have time to use it."

He was definitely lying...

Adam suddenly laughed from the side of the room, stepping forward with exaggerated amusement. "Yeah, he spilled his coffee and used Leo's research to mop it up." Leo's eyes widened instantly, his head snapped toward Donald. "You used my suggestions as a sponge?" he demanded, his voice rising slightly.

I folded my arms slowly, stepping closer and narrowing my eyes at Donald. "You don't use my reports as a sponge, right?" I added, tilting my head in challenge. Donald hesitated for a fraction of a second, his mouth tightening as if searching for a better explanation but he waved a hand dismissively, trying to downplay it and directed his words to Leo. "More like a paper towel." he said. "But it was very absorbent." Leo's stare hardened, his jaw tightening as he processed that answer.

Donald quickly shifted gears, clearing his throat and gesturing toward the hallway. "Why don't you guys go clear out the rest of your gear." he said, turning slightly away as if ending the conversation would erase it. The siblings exchanged glances, then began drifting out of the lab, footsteps fading down the corridor. The moment they were gone, Leo stepped forward again, this time more deliberate. His posture changed—shoulders squared, chin lifted slightly, eyes locked on Donald as he stopped just short of the console. "We need to talk." he said firmly. "I'm done being the water boy. I want to be a part of the team."

Donald let out a long, tired breath and straightened from the console, finally giving Leo his full attention. "Leo, I told you, you can't be part of the team." he said. "You're not bionic. And besides, statistics show that most accidents happen within a three-mile radius of you."

"But I'm not bionic and I still do reports for you." I spoke up, my voice steady.  "That's— that's different—" Donald started, already losing his argument. "—Oh, I get it." I cut in, stepping forward slightly and crossing my arms tighter. I tilted my head with a small, knowing smirk. "I'm just smarter than Leo." Leo immediately shot me a sharp glare, his head turning fast, while I held my expression like I had just delivered a flawless point. He decided to ignore me for the time being and turned back to him, refusing to drop it. "I've grown. I've matured." he insisted, lifting his hands slightly as if presenting evidence. "I wear medium now."
