Chase, Bree, and I were in the lab, with me peering over Chase's shoulder as he tapped his screen, while Bree was on top of the console, taking selfies. These past few days have been a whirlwind, with Davenport's condition constantly shifting—one moment he was improving, the next, slightly worse. Tasha kept calling Leo with updates, and each call left me feeling more anxious. I've been really worried, and I genuinely miss having both of them around the house.
A few minutes later, Leo rushed in, phone in hand, excitement all over his face. "Good news, guys!" He put his phone in his pocket as Bree got off the console. "My mom called from the hospital and said Big D's doing much better. He's gonna make it."
"Awesome!" Bree exclaimed. "What a relief!" I smiled, genuinely happy to hear the news. "That's great."
"Yep." Leo continued, crossing his arms with a grin. "Soon he'll be back here making us all wish he was still unconscious."
"Hey, I really miss them. Although it has been nice having the hairspray all to myself." Bree stated. I giggled at that, feeling the same. "Yeah, I miss them too." I really did miss their presence along with my dad's ego and Tasha and Eddy's insults to each other.
" Oh, actually, Adam's been using it, too. He's developing new hairstyles for his armpits." He paused. Leo and I shared a weird look, even more so when Chase continued. "You wouldn't think it, but the ponytails are surprisingly cute." He nodded as if he was genuinely impressed, resting one hand on his hip and the other forming an 'ok' gesture.
"Gross." I muttered, picturing his armpit hairstyles. "You know, we should have traded Adam for one of Krane's bionic soldiers when we had the chance." I giggled and nudged Bree playfully. Chase suddenly grew serious, his face clouding with worry. "Oh, no. The soldiers! I was so worried about Mr. Davenport, I completely forgot about them."
Leo, noticing Chase's concern, uncrossed his arms, trying to calm him down. "Relax. I'm sure they're fine. Now that the Triton App is deactivated, they're just normal teenagers..." he trailed off, making us all feel a little relieved before adding quickly. "Normal teenagers roaming the streets with deadly bionic abilities." Our eyes widened as reality had hit us. "We need to find them!" Just as we were about to rush out of the lab, Adam strolled in. "Find who?"
"Krane's soldiers." Bree replied, making Adam nod and smile. "Oh, I think I can help with that." We exchanged confused glances and followed him up to the living room. "They're right here." Adam announced proudly.
"You invited 30 bionic soldiers into our home?" I asked, stunned, my gaze still locked on the group.
"No, I invited one." Adam clarified, raising a single finger as if to emphasize his point. "The other 29 were hiding in the bushes and followed us home."
...
Adam eagerly pushed us forward, excited to introduce his new "friends." Twenty-five bionic soldiers stood by the staircase, while five of them were lined up in front of the couch, standing rigidly with military precision. I wasn't exactly thrilled about meeting them, especially considering they were trying to kill us just a few hours ago. "Chase, Bree, Dawn." Adam began, standing next to one of them, gesturing toward the group. "I don't think you guys have been formally introduced to our friends. This is S-5, S-6, S-7, S-8 and--" Each soldier gave a small wave as Adam introduced them, but he paused when he got to the last woman in the line. "...Uh, sorry, I forgot your name." She glared at him, clearly offended, before the line dispersed awkwardly as Chase nodded, like it was typical of Adam to do so. Which it was. Leo was standing off to the side, chatting with a group of bionic soldiers. Well, looks like someone made some new friends.
Just my luck, I suddenly recognized two boys coming towards us. These were the same two soldiers Chase and I had fought off during the last battle. Chase had handled one of them, while I dealt with the other. I tensed up immediately, cautious of them. Here we go...
