"I cannot wait to see this!"

"Wait to see what?" I asked, stepping onto the porch, noticing the front door opened so I was curious about what got them so excited. As I stepped onto the porch, I spotted Adam, Davenport, and Chase gathered around a telescope.

"The lunar eclipse." Chase answered, a giddy smile spreading across his face. "Oh, cool! Let me see." Without hesitation, I shoved him aside, sending him sprawling onto the ground with a startled yelp. Davenport and Adam burst out laughing as I adjusted the telescope lens to my liking. Through the eyepiece, the moon appeared bathed in a rusty-red glow. "Wow, it's amazing!" I exclaimed, still peering into the telescope. I glanced back at Chase, grinning smugly. "Chase, you're really missing out." Chase scrambled to his feet, brushing himself off as I stepped back. He made his way  toward the telescope, but before he could get close, Davenport stepped up behind him with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "I can't wait no more." Chase sighed dreamley, clearly in his element.

"Well, you're gonna have to." Davenport retorted, giving Chase a firm shove that sent him tumbling into a nearby potted plant. Davenport leaned into the telescope and let out an appreciative sigh. "It's beautiful."

"Let me see, let me see." Chase tried to reclaim his turn but was promptly shoved aside again, this time by Adam. "My turn." Adam announced, pressing his face to the scope. His brow furrowed as he squinted at the sky. "Wow! Cool!" He pulled back, puzzled. "What am I lookin' at?"

"Shadows. Duh." I said, snickering as Chase groaned from the ground. "Not just shadows." Davenport interjected with an exasperated look in my direction. "Adam, a lunar eclipse is a rare and breathtaking event. The moon is passing directly behind the earth blocking the light that normally illuminates it."

"Exactly." I said with a shrug. "Rare shadows." Davenport let out an exasperated sigh as Adam nodded sagely. "Wow. Nothing more exciting than a slow-moving shadow."

"Watching a lunar eclipse takes time and patience." Davenport continued, as if lecturing a class. "We're going to be here all night."

"Oh, great." Adam muttered. "So it's like a sleepover... minus the fun." I couldn't help but chuckle at his sarcasm, just as Bree wandered onto the porch, her brows knitting in confusion. "Hey, what are you guys doing?"

"Lookin' at the lunar eclipse." I said, pointing at the telescope.

"Oh, cool! Let me see!" Bree grinned, then promptly shoved Chase to the ground again as she claimed her spot. "Oh, come on!" Chase groaned, throwing his hands up in defeat.

I turned to Adam with a smirk. "If we're going to be here all night and get to watch that happen, then it is just like a sleepover." Adam and I exchanged a triumphant high-five as Chase muttered something under his breath, still stuck on the ground.

...

The trio and I lounged on the sofa, passing a bowl of popcorn between us as we settled into the comfort of the moment.  "Leo Dooley's video log of the lunar eclipse." he announced dramatically, getting my attention as the camera lens glinting as he spun it around the room. "I'm recording tonight's events as they happen in real-time. No editing, no filters, and no special effects." He said to the camera as he went down the stairs and I had to stifle my laugh when he turned the camera toward Donald, who was still hunched over, gazing through the telescope, and pounding both fists on his back before he had to straighten up to crack his back properly.  "That's right, folks." Leo quipped, zooming in on him. "He's as old as he appears."
