The Assistant

Part 14

Nat POV-
It had been 6 days since Y/N went to our new base, I knew she had to sort majority of it. I was just hoping she was okay, she hadn't spoken much about the mission or what Wanda did to her
The night before she left was amazing, she cooked us dinner and we sat watching films. We cuddled for most of the night before falling asleep, she had to leave early but woke me before going to say goodbye.

I'd finished packing my things up and loaded my car, I wanted to be at the new place as early as I could be so I could see Y/N.
She would be there welcoming everyone in and helping them to where their new rooms are, she had put the plan together so I'm hoping we were close.

I pull up outside the new compound and get buzzed in, security is a lot tighter here and it's a lot bigger than before. I could definitely get used to this
Pulling up, I park in my designated spot and see Y/N bossing people around as to where things should go

Nat- hey gorgeous
Y/N- Good Morning Natasha
I kiss her cheek and she smiles
Wanda- I knew you two were together
Y/N- quiet Wanda
Wanda- from what I've seen, she won't be quiet
Y/N- one more comment like that and you'll be in cell quicker than you can react
Wanda- yes boss
She winks as me before grabbing more stuff and heading inside
Nat- so she is here?
Y/N- the twins are joining the team, I need your help getting them to our standards
Nat- yeah of course, anything for you

She grabs some of my things and walks me to my room
Nat- who is on this floor with me?
Y/N- there's 6 rooms here, Wanda and I have a room each here as well so there's 3 spare for new recruits
Nat- sounds good
Y/N- okay so your door is pin controlled which I will need to have in case of an emergency
Nat- I like the room, did you design it?
Y/N- I might be good at a lot of things but having an eye for design is not one of them.

She brings in my bags and closes the door behind us. Walking closer she dumps my things and pulls me closer to her
I lick my lips and she leans in kissing me gently
Y/N- I missed you
Nat- I missed you too
We kiss again and her phone starts to ring, she looks down and checks who is it
Y/N- Fury always seems to ring when I'm busy
I laugh at her as she answers the phone.

Y/N POV-
I answer the phone to Fury knowing he only rings when it's important
Y/N- Good morning Sir
Fury- mission time Y/N, who is there?
Y/N- The twins, Natasha, Steve and I
Fury- all of you will go, we are moving Ultrons body. We have flown it in and you'll be transporting it, we've heard chatter about an attack so be ready
Y/N- yes sir

I hang up the phone and turn around
Y/N- we've got a mission, follow me. Jarvis, call Rogers and the Maximoffs to the meeting room
We head down and I explain everything to them
Steve- I don't mean to be rude but why are those two going as well?
Y/N- they can help us, if we don't let them then how can we trust them?
Nat- so who is in what car?
Y/N- I'll take the twins and Steve, you'll be with Nat
Wanda- sounds good to us

We've arrived at mission location, it was a private military airport. The cars were provided to us and we were positioned in front of the cargo truck with Shield agents located in cars in behind the truck.
It was a 5 hour drive and we couldn't stop,
I put my phone in it's stand and set up the route on there, I had put everything else in my bag in the back of the car. It was time to leave after I completed a radio check.

Wanda- so how does this go?
Pietro- yeah, do we just sit here?
Y/N- you both sit there and if we need you for something then that's what happens.
Pietro- can we play a game?
Y/N- you two can
Wanda- why won't you?
Y/N- I'm driving and I'm not a 4 year old

The twins play games and talk for about 2 hours straight, I joined in sometimes because I felt they needed to know me and not the persona they saw during the fighting.
Pietro- so Y/N would you rather have fingers for toes or toes for fingers?
Y/N- I'd say fingers for toes cause then I could pick things up and it wouldn't look as weird.
Wanda- it would look weird

The roads weren't too busy, Nat and Steve were in front of us and they'd checked in a couple times and it was going okay.
They'd been good friends for a while so I knew they could go together and be fine.

We start to approach a Bridge over a river, it was a cold day and I had ramped the heating up in the car to deal with it.
I could see a strange light appearing in the sky and the twins saw it too
Wanda- what the hell is that?
Suddenly, Nat and Steve's car goes flying through the railings and smashes into the cold water below. A figure lands in front and I break as hard as I can trying to steer away causing the car to roll

I get out the wreckage and see the truck is under fire but being defended by the other agents, Steve and Nat are still in the water. I take off my jumper and dive into the water.
I take a deep breath but diving down further to see if I could find them alive...
