Maria POV-
Y/N had made it through the first 24 hours and the doctors said this was a good sign. They ran more scans and showed the surgeries had worked well, everything was holding in place.
Nat had barely left her side, the avengers had been bringing her food and making her move around.

With the influence of Shield, the Avengers and Stark Industries, Y/N had been moved to the VIP wing. The rooms were massive so it was easier for people to visit and it also meant the doctors and nurses were the best you could get

It was approaching a week since the accident and Y/N showed no sign of waking up soon. The doctors didn't know when she'd wake up but were optimistic she would eventually.
Fury- Bad time?
Maria- it's perfect
Fury- my sweet girl, what did they do to you?
Maria- it's hard to recognise her anymore, she's not the same
Fury- she's the same person Hill and she always will be, when she wakes up then yes things will be different and it's going to be hard for her but show support and give her what she needs
Maria- I don't plan on leaving her side Sir
Fury- good because I've assigned you to the Avengers whilst she is here. Steve is running the team and you'll be here. They all agreed
Maria- thank you Sir, that means the world to me

It's now been a month and Y/N still isn't awake, her vitals had improved and her injuries were healing well. They suspected brain damage due to the lack of oxygen although scans didn't show too much trouble in that area.
I only left her side to shower or eat and when I did, I always tried to get someone to sit with her.
I didn't know if she could hear me or understand what was happening but I didn't want her to be alone.
The avengers were on a mission and I headed back to the compound. The doctors had taken Y/N for her usual scans and it normally took a couple hours, which meant I had time to grab some food and shower.
I had been back long when I got a phone call from the hospital.
Dr Walker- Miss Hill, you should come back to the hospital as soon as you can
Maria- what's happened?
Dr Walker- it's better you see for yourself.

I throw on some clothes and run down the stairs, the avengers had arrived back but I didn't acknowledge them. I ran straight past them and to my car, driving out of the compound as quick as I possibly could.
I arrived at the hospital in record time and I was just praying she wasn't dead.
I ran into her room
Y/N- hey
Maria- you're awake
Y/N- or you're having a lovely dream
Maria- how do you feel?
Y/N- pretty shitty

The doctor walks in and smiles
Dr Walker- Y/N is in better condition than we expected but there are some small problems which need to be monitored.
Maria- like what?
Dr Walker- there's a little bleeding in her liver but it's not too worrying at this point. She's also having a tough time remembering things, it's amnesia but we don't know how much she's forgotten.
Y/N- sorry Doc but who are you?
Dr Walker- She's asked that 5 times since she's woken up. Her short term memory isn't functioning. Don't get angry or upset with her, she needs support so answer her questions no matter how many times she asks.

I turn back to Y/N and she smiles at me
Maria- you gave us a right scare
Y/N- I don't remember what happened
Maria- what's the last thing you remember?
Y/N- driving
Maria- that's good
Y/N- where is Nat?
Maria- I'll call her and she can come
Y/N- I want to talk to her, pass me the phone

Nat POV-
We'd arrived back from the mission and saw Hill running out of the door. We just assumed she'd fallen asleep and had to leave, well that's what I was hoping for anyway. I didn't want to think something bad had happened to Y/N

We all sit down in the meeting room and debrief our mission when my phone starts ringing
Nat- hey sorry, it's Maria I've got to take this
Tony- go for it
I grab my phone and head into the main room
Nat- hey, is everything okay!
There's a moment of silence
Y/N- I love you too Natasha
Nat- Y/N?
Y/N- I'm awake and I miss your face so get your ass here
I can hear the phone moving around
Maria- she's on a lot of drugs so apologies for that
Nat- I'm on my way, I'll be there soon
Maria- I'll meet you in the car park, there's a lot you need to know

I run back into the meeting room and grab my jacket
Tony- is everything okay?
Nat- she's awake
Tony- go and see your girl, hurry up

It's normal to be nervous right? What happens if she was different or forgot what we had? She had become my everything and then this happened, I had no idea what to do but knowing she was awake was a saving Grace for me.
Maria explained everything when I got there and although I didn't really understand, I tried my best

Y/N- hey sexy
Nat- I'm so glad you're awake
I kiss her and she kisses me back
Nat- I missed that
Y/N- not like you can kiss an unconscious person
Nat- they don't kiss back very well
She laughs but groans in pain grabbing her stomach
Nat- okay so no jokes, understood
Y/N- how have you been?
Nat- you've been in a coma for a month and you're asking about me?
Y/N- well I've pretty much been lazy so yeah
Nat- I'm doing a lot better now you're awake
Y/N- jeez, no need to get so soppy on me
Nat- be my girlfriend?
Y/N- I thought I already was
Nat- I wanted to make sure we were official
Y/N- yes Nat, you might to keep reminding me of your love though. My brains messed up
She smiles as I kiss her again, I knew she was herself and she was back. My girl was back.
