*1 year later*
Y/N- ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Shield academy. I am your instructor, Y/N Clarke. You've been selected and pulled from programmes all across the world to represent this organisation. If you have any questions, ask away.
The group talked amongst themselves before a young man stepped forward, he couldn't have been much older than 20.
??- Are you the Agent Clark?
Y/N- yes, any stories you've heard are likely true but I'm not as much of a bitch as they say. Now if that's all...
??- sorry, I've got a questionA women stepped forward. She wasn't someone that I recognised but I allowed her to interrupt me so something must have been there.
Y/N- what's your name?
??- Everyone calls me AJ
Y/N- what's the question?
AJ- what happened to Shield? This was a tough one, a lot had happened in the last year and if they were going to stay then they deserved to know.
Y/N- Shield has been infiltrated by the enemy, a group of lone agents worked together to take it down. The whole thing went crashing and now, Shield is better than ever before.
AJ- were you part of that group?
Y/N- yes. Let's get moving shall we?I explained the day to the recruits, a 10km run was the first step and I was doing it with them. They needed to do this one on their own because some of them would go crazy and injure themselves, I did that first time, I needed to see who the ones that could manage were.
Y/N- if at any point you get stopped by an agent, you stop and listen. If I stop then you all stop. You will see people you recognise but do not disturb them.
Understood?
Class- Yes Ma'amThe class followed me to the start point, I threw my jumper down with my assistant, Jenny.
Jenny- you need anything?
Y/N- they've all got their trackers on, if anyone stops for more than a minute, inform me please
Jenny- of course Agent Clarke.
This route covered different terrains, I had done this route before, times ranging between 60 and 70 minutes.
Y/N- start your watches and let's go.I finished the course in 58 minutes, a record time for myself. None of the recruits anywhere near me as I expected.
Jenny- good run agent?
Y/N- quicker than ever, how are they doing?
Jenny- closest is still roughly 9 minutes away.
Y/N- I expected worse. They started crossing the line, flopping to the floor trying to regain their breath. I walked round handing out bottles of water, helping stretch out any cramp they sustained.
Y/N- good work, now inside the gym. Your routines will be handed to you by Agent Connors. Follow his instructions, if one of you messes up then you'll all be punished, Understood?
Class- Yes Ma'am.I headed into my office, it was a good size. All the recruits profiles stuck on the wall, bunched into their personality zones.
I had analysed them all before meeting, I knew how to get across to most of them. Some of them were still a mystery.
I inputted the run times, it was the first one they had done but certainly not the last.
Agents had to be fitter than anyone, there might be a lot of grunt work but there could also be action if you were called upon.Maria- knock knock
Y/N- hey, everything okay?
Maria- you did 10km in 58 minutes?
Y/N- yeah?
Maria- you've got quicker
Y/N- I had to beat them, might as well push myself
Maria- anyway, there's people here to see the director and he's not home
Y/N- I'll clean up, send them in here
Maria- copy that.I had a shower room attached to my office, one of the perks of designing the new shield facility.
I had a quick shower, washing away the sweat and smell from before.
I put my instructor gear back on, I knew this may be formal but I had to be back with them soon.
Voices in my office as I walked out the door stopping in my tracks as I noticed the red head and blonde sat on the chairs.Steve- who's office is this anyway?
Nat- no idea, she didn't say
I took a deep breath, lifted my head up and walked in. Both turning and standing.
Y/N- sit down kids
Steve- good to see you again Y/N
Y/N- you too Captain, Agent.
She hadn't said a word yet, I could feel her eyes looking me up and down as I wandered to my seat.
Y/N- what can I do for you?
Steve- the Avengers need a mission signing off, can you do that?
Y/N- of course, let me look over the plan and I'll get back to youNatasha ushered Steve out the door, closing it behind him as she spun to face me
Y/N- everything okay agent?
Nat- I missed you
My breath was shaky, I hadn't seen her in a year and I just didn't know what to say. I just nodded. God what fool nods.
Nat- if you're free sometime then I'd love to maybe have a chat?
Y/N- yeah sounds good
Nat- okay, I'll give you my numberTo say that whole conversation was awkward would be an understatement. I still loved her with everything but she just left, no phone calls or text messages, not even a bloody postcard.
I watched her leave, Maria staring her down as she left my office.
Maria- how was that? Did you fall straight back into her lap?
Y/N- what? No, of course not.
Maria- then what?
Y/N- she wants to chat
Maria- I spent 4 months dragging you around the world because I couldn't leave you. You were such a mess when she left and now you've finally sorted yourself out, please don't let her come and ruin everything
Y/N- she left me, I'm not going to forgive her that easily. Now read through this for me, I've gotta get back to my class.
