The Assistant

Part 10

Clint POV-
I activated the plan and took everyone to the new safe house which in fact was my house. The avengers were in for a surprise.
I introduce them all and I can see the shock across their faces. I didn't want everyone to know but these people protect me and I help them so if they knew then it was okay.

We've been here for 2 days and it's quiet, Y/N hadn't turned up yet which was worrying. She was only supposed to take the jet back and then bring the camper here. It was pre-packed in case of an emergency, Tasha needed Y/N right now. She had barely spoken to us since we arrived and even though neither of them admitted it, they were perfect for each other.

Y/N POV-
It's 7am when I arrive at Clint's house and it's all quiet, I park up and stretch my legs. It feels like I've been driving forever and my body aches

Steve- you're finally here
Y/N- there were some things I had to sort out first
Steve- more serious than us?
Y/N- world safety is high on my list
I throw a bag at him and he looks at me with confusion on his face
Y/N- clothes, a new suit and toiletries
Steve- thanks, I appreciate it
Y/N- help me get the rest of this stuff inside

Steve helps me carry everything inside, I've got bags prepared for everyone as well as groceries for Laura and the kids. They couldn't keep feeding the team, I know how much they eat so it'll likely bankrupt her.

Clint- it's good to see you
Y/N- you too, how's everyone doing?
Clint- Thor left, Tony and Steve haven't stopped bickering, Bruce has been himself and then Tasha, well she's not doing too good.
Y/N- how bad is it?
Clint- she's barely eating and sleeps most of the day
Y/N- get her out of bed and outside, I'll talk to her

Nat POV-
The witch had messed me up completely, the flashbacks kept appearing and I couldn't stop seeing the red room. It was a dangerous place that made me what I am, it made me kill people and took a lot from me.
I'd seen her get in the head of Y/N and nobody had seen her since, I just hope she's okay.
I have a shower and get dressed, I felt like being active today. It's a Saturday morning so I can hear the kids playing outside and I take a look to see a familiar figure joining in

Clint- I see you noticed Y/N is here
Nat- when did she arrive?
Clint- she's been here an hour or so, she took the kids so we could have a break
Nat- I'll help her
Clint- talk to her, you haven't been right and she can help you. I know you trust her

He was right, I may have only known her for a couple months but I did trust her. She'd proven herself on multiple missions as well as kicking my ass more times than I'd like to admit.
I stand by the door watching the kids firing water at Y/N as she fires back. I close the door and they all notice me
Y/N- I'll keep watch from over there, I think you've defeated the boss
The kids runs off as Y/N walks towards me, we both take a seat on the bench

Nat- I'm glad you finally showed up
Y/N- I'm sorry it took so long, I had things to sort out
Nat- that's okay, I know you are a busy person
Y/N- I'm never too busy for you Nat
Nat- the witch got into your mind, didn't she?
Y/N- yeah she did
Nat- are you doing okay?
Y/N- honestly no, the pain I'd finally overcome has all come back and it's overwhelming
Nat- I understand that, she showed me the red room

I don't know why but I told Y/N everything, she just sat there and listened. She didn't ask any questions but just let me speak and comforted me when I needed it.
Nat- if it's okay to ask, what did she show you?
Y/N- that's a conversation for later, I'm not ready yet
Nat- I get it, it's hard to process it all
Y/N- how are you sleeping?
Nat- I'm not really, I keep having nightmares
Y/N- well there's plenty of room in the camper van if you wanted to stay with me
Nat- I'd like that
I can feel my cheeks getting hotter by the second, I always thought Y/N had no interest in me like that but now, I think she might have some feelings. I wasn't going to push anything because I gathered what she was going through was harder than any of us knew. She was a closed book usually and this was a big step for her.

It's the evening now and Y/N cooked dinner for everyone. The food she created was always incredible, she had a real talent for flavour and the presentation looked so good. I always enjoyed eating her food and she was always so happy when cooking.
Y/N- I think I'm gonna call it a night, I'll see you all tomorrow
She left pretty quickly and I watched her go. I knew her offer was genuine but I didn't know if I should accept it or not.

Nat- Y/N said I can stay in the camper tonight Steve so you can have the bed rather than the couch
Steve- are you sure? I don't want to make you move
Nat- it's okay, I'm sure I can cope with the van. It's better for you
Steve- thank you, I appreciate it

I said goodnight to everyone before getting ready for bed, I grab some of my stuff and head to the van.
I knock on the door and Y/N opens it
Y/N- I wasn't sure if you were going to come or not
Nat- it was too good an offer to refuse
