Part 38

I walked back inside, Steve and Natasha watching as I slumped into my chair and started to complete my work.
Maria- we need to track down the solider
Steve- how though?
The conversation became muffled in the background as I started to work on a new project. I had a good knowledge of mechanics and electronics which made me perfect for this job.

I put my headphones on and started to work, calculating dimensions for the correct amount of power to be generated in order for the device to work.
Sketching ideas down, I had no idea how long I'd been there when it was completed.
I stood up quicker than usual making my way to the lab picking up the components I needed.

Scolding wires fo the mainframe was tough, the components had to be small and lightweight. Creating a magnetised field was causing a challenge, the arm was strong and therefore the metal needed to be able to grip correctly but not be thrown off balance.
Adding in full circuitry as well as creating the metallic exterior, the project was done. I didn't know if it was going to work but it was time to test it.

I grab a metal wrap and head back to the main floor.
Nat- where the hell have you been?
Y/N- in the lab?
Nat- it's been 14 hours
Y/N- yeah well I needed to get this done
Nat- what is it?
Y/N- I think it's a way to gain an advantage but I need a volunteer
Steve- I'll do it

I wrap the metal around his arm and hand Natasha the device
Steve- what the hell is that?
Nat- it's small
Y/N- correct but it packs a mighty punch if I've got my calculations correct
Nat lines up the shot and lands directly on the metal, electrical currents soar through the metal as Steve drop its to the floor.
Steve- Jesus, you trying to kill me?
Y/N- nope, burning a hole through the metal arm to stop the components from responding to each other and therefore throwing off the balance equilibrium that was created
Nat- that was hot
Y/N- thanks

Nat POV-

I didn't know Y/N could do things like this, we hadn't known each other for that long but the more I learnt about her, the more I realised I loved this girl.

Steve- how will this help?
Y/N- by disturbing the power connectivity in the arm and burning through the nerves, the firing of the messages become seldom
Steve- idiots terms please
Y/N- disk make arm go blurgh
She makes an action to show the arm dying and not in use, I can't help but smile as Steve finally understands what's happing.
Steve- these should help, a lot.
Y/N- I know. Now if we're done here, I need some sleep.

I watched her walk away and Maria urged me to follow. She knew Y/N well and she must be trying to tell me something so I check in quickly before following
Nat- what's up?
Maria- I'm certain she hasn't slept since she got here a few days ago so she's going to have nightmares
Nat- she gets those?
Maria- only when she's deprived of sleep
A quick smile and I walk off towards the room Y/N was staying in.

I slide in before the door closes and clear my throat so Y/N knows I'm there
Y/N- everything okay?
Nat- I just wanted to check on you
Y/N- Maria sent you, right?
Nat- what, no of course not
Y/N- nightmares I'm assuming, you're also such a bad liar for a spy
Nat- I can kill you before you'd realise
Y/N- when you can beat me in training then I'll take that threat seriously

I grab some clothes for her to sleep in as she starts getting changed, a small grunt escaping her lips as she does
Nat- you okay?
Y/N- yeah, I got blown up so a little bruised
Nat- did you get...
Y/N- yes I got checked and I'm fine
Nat- okay good, now get your ass in bed and get some rest. I'll be right here

It's been a few hours and Y/N is rustling around in bed, her body twitching as sweat starts to run down her face.
Nat- I've got you, it's okay
My arms wrap around her body as she tries to fight against my touch, my legs intermingling with hers. Fists hitting herself as I pull them towards her, holding them tight to her chest.
Nat- work through it, you're safe.
It goes on for a while but I couldn't say how long, she was strong and it was taking a toll on me, I had just been shot after all.

Her body jolts awake as she realises where she is. Her eyes darting around the room and she rolls onto the floor backing into a corner
Nat- you're okay, I'm here
Y/N-NO! Stay away
Nat- okay I can do that, I'm not going to hurt you
Y/N- I know but I hurt YOU
Nat- it was only a nightmare babe, you didn't do anything
Y/N- I saw you there, bleeding. Your blood on my hands and the knife next to me
Nat- it wasn't real

The emotions are too much for her, tears running down her face as she tries to shut me out. She would never hurt me and we both know that, this is why it's becoming so hard for her
Nat- I'm coming to sit next to you, okay?
Her breathing is ragged and uneven as she debates the answer, need takes over as she nods her head.
I take her hand in mine and trace patterns along her hand. She resists the feeling at first but her body starts to relax into mine as her head now rests on my shoulder.
Nat- there you go, you're doing so well
Y/N- I'm sorry I hurt you
Nat- you haven't hurt me and I know you never would

I keep tracing patterns along her hand when he lips smash into mine, her arms wrapping around my waist as she pulls me on top of her, not breaking the kiss.
A squeeze of my arse causes me to moan and she takes the opportunity to slip her tongue in my mouth.
She pulls away
Y/N- you want to do this?
Nat- yes.
