2nd Part 1st Round: Odin v. Vaan

Kaiba: Wow, that pre-show yesterday was quite chaotic 

Jack: Yet it ended orderly.

Joey: But what is with everyone attacking my friend Tristan?

Kaiba: Your mutty friend just had to open his big mouth

Jack: Yeah, make same question how you ended up here instead of Chazz

Joey: Anyway, the opening duel for the 2nd Half of the 1st round is Odin v. Vaan

Kaiba: We've seen Vaan and his Gateway to Nothingness deck decimate Hiro. Let's see if the same can be said of Odin

Jack: I doubt it. Odin's wielding Nordics and I've seen first hand how those play. 

Joey: Onto the announcer

Announcer: The following is the 1st match of the 2nd part of the 1st round! First, Odin!

Announcer: And his opponent...Vaan!

Joey: Ay! This be quite creepy. One is of some mystic guy and in comes some creepy nothingness guy.

Kaiba: You just lost the psy war Wheeler. 

Jack: I would suggest you hold off on that Kaiba. These Nordics are no joke.

Announcer: Let the duel, begin!

Turn 1 (Odin 8000/ Vaan 8000)
Odin draws a card

Odin: I summon Guldface of the Nordic Beasts (LIGHT/4*/Beast/Tuner/ATK 1600/ DEF 1000). I set 3 cards face down and end my turn.

Turn 2 (Odin 8000/ Vaan 8000)
Vaan draws a card

Vaan: I summon La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp (DARK/4*/Fiend/ ATK1800/DEF1000). I attack Guldfaxe!

Odin: I activate a trap card, Nordic Relic Megingjord. I can target a Nordic or Aesir Monster and double its original Attack and Defense until the end of this turn. I choose, Guldfaxe of the NORDIC Beasts! (LIGHT/4*/Beast/ATK 3200/ DEF 2000)

La Jinn gets destroyed

Odin 8000/ Vaan 6600

Vaan: Main phase 2. I activate a Spell Card, Monster Reincarnation. I discard Royal Knight to return La Jinn to my hand and end my turn.

Turn 3 (Odin 8000/ Vaan 6600)
Odin draws a card

Odin: I summon Mara of the Nordic Alfar (DARK/ 2*/ Spellccaster/Tuner/ ATK1000/ DEF 500). And moving to my Battle Phase, Guldfaxe, direct attack!

Odin 8000/ Vaan 5000

Odin: Mara, direct attack!

Odin 8000/ Vaan 4000

Odin: I end my turn!

Jack: Impressive as always...

Kaiba: Outmaneuvering him.

Turn 4 (Odin 8000/ Vaan 4000)
Vaan draws a card

Vaan: I summon La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp (DARK/4*/Fiend/ ATK1800/DEF1000). And I attack Mara!

Odin: I activate a Trap Card, Nordic Relic Gungnir! I banish Mara to Destroy 1 card on the field. I select, La Jinn!

With no counter, La Jinn is destroyed and Mara is banished. 

Odin: I suggest you keep watch during my 2nd End Phase after I activate this card. That is when a monster banished by this effect will return.

Vaan: I end my turn.

Turn 5 (Odin 8000/ Vaan 4000)
Odin draws a card

Odin: I set a monster in defense and Guldfaxe, direct attack!

Odin 8000/ Vaan 2400

Odin: I end my turn.

Nordic Relic Gungnir - 1 end phase

Turn 6 (Odin 8000/ Vaan 2400)
Vaan draws a card

Vaan: I activate a Spell Card, Gold Sarcophagus, I can Banish a card from my deck, face up. And in my 2nd Standby Phase, it is added to my hand. And I select, Banisher of the Light. And end my turn

Turn 7 (Odin 8000/ Vaan 2400)
Odin draws a card.

Odin: I set another monster. Guldfaxe, direct attack!

Odin: I end my turn. And Mara comes back to my field.

Turn 8 (Odin 8000/ Vaan 800)
Vaan draws a card

Standby Phase: Golden Sarcophagus - 1

Vaan: I set a monster and call it a turn

Turn 9 (Odin 8000/ Vaan 800)
Odin draws a card

Odin: Now you will get it. I use my Guldfaxe as Link Material, to Link Summon Gullveig of the Nordic Ascendant (LIGHT/Link - 1/ Fairy/ ATK800). I activate its effect. I can banish up to 3 cards from my hand and/or field to special summon that many Nordic monsters in defense. I cannot special summon monsters except Aesir monsters. So I banish Mara and the two facedowns to Special Summon Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant (DARK/4*/Fairy/Tuner/ ATK1200/ DEF 400) and 2 Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts (EARTH/3*/Beast/ATK 800/ DEF 1100). and I tune Vanadis to my Tanngnjostrs to Synchro Summon my namesake, Odin, Father of the Aesir! (LIGHT/10*/Fairy/Synchro/ATK4000/DEF3500). Gullveig's effect also activates as Odin is summoned to Gullveig's lower left arrow. my opponent cannot target that monster with effects and Gullveig cannot be targeted for attacks. Not that at this point, you will risk.

Jack: This is amazing! He brought out Odin!

Kaiba: Seems you've seen this before.

Jack: Kaiba, do notscoff at this.

Odin: Battle Phase, Odin, attack that facedown!

Odin destroys the facedown, which was Mask of Darkness (DARK/2*/Fiend/ATK 900/ DEF 400).

Odin: Gullveig, direct attack!

Odin 8000/ Vaan 0

Announcer: Your winner, Odin!

Jack: This is quite a feat!

Joey: That special summonin' was just showing off. He didn't really need to do tha....

Kaiba; What if he wanted to just to flex? Stop being naive Wheeler!

Jack: And with that victory, Vaan's run in the tournament ended as Odin advances to the quarter final!

Kaiba: Odin is merely waiting for the winner of AK v. Crow. Whoever that will be.
