Part 26

Nat POV-

When I saw Tony running with the medical bag, I knew what was happening. With all my fight and will, I couldn't get myself to move to see if it was what I believed.
I wanted to run and scream but I just couldn't, I was frozen in place.

Steve- I'm so sorry Nat
Nat- I can't lose her...
Steve- I know and she doesn't want to leave you but she's done her best for you both
Nat- I...
Words couldn't be formed as I broke down in Steve's arms with both of us dropping to the floor. Tears flooded down my face as Steve held me tight.

*2 days later*

Y/N hadn't woken up since she collapsed and according to Bruce, she was never going to. We didn't have a cure for her and she was going to die soon.

The medication was taking the pain away so she was at peace and that's all I could ask.
Jarvis- There is a women at the front door asking to see Y/N
Tony- I'll sort it out
I look at the monitors but don't recognise her
Wanda- who is it?
Nat- never seen her before, have a look yourself
Wanda comes over and looks before running out the door and down to the front

A couple minutes later Wanda comes back in with the women
Nat- who are you?
Wanda- this is Alice, Y/N's mother
Alice- I can help her.

I didn't know whether I should believe her. All Y/N's life she was treated like shit by this women. Tortured physically and mentally every day of her life until she found a way to break off from them

Nat- why should we trust you?
Alice- you can't but she's my daughter, I'd do anything to protect her
Nat- that's bullshit and you know it
Alice- excuse me?!
Nat- she could've been a normal kid but no, you experimented on her and made her like this. You hurt her and didn't give a fuck about what you were doing
Alice- I made her stronger, I made her better than everyone else. She's powerful, this disease was meant to kill instantly and look at her, she's fought this hard so let me do what I'm here to do. It's not like I can kill her when she's dying anyway.

She was right.

Nat- fine, but please do it quickly.
I watch as Alice grabs a syringe out of her bag and injects the substance into Y/N's IV.

She's looking at her vitals and waiting
Alice- who's the doctor here?
Bruce- oh that's me
Alice- get the paddles ready and charge to 180.
Bruce- why? She's fine?
Alice- she's not going to be when this reaches in 5...4...

As the countdown hit 1, Y/N's vitals dropped. Her heart stopped as Wanda started compressions.
Alice- okay hold compressions
She checks her pulse but shakes her head, Bruce hands her the paddles of the defibrillator.
Alice- Clear! Shocking!

Y/N's body jolts upwards as her vitals don't change
Alice- let's go again, get her some adrenaline
Bruce runs over to the medical cabinet and grabs what he needs, injecting straight into Y/N's arm rather than her IV.

The compressions continue as the other Avengers slowly filter in.
I take a step back and the room starts to blur. The faint sound of a beep fills the room as I hear a cheer from behind.
Wanda wraps her arms around me as I finally pull myself back

Alice- we got her back. Keep an eye on her and she should be okay.
Bruce- what did you give her?
Alice- she told me about her illness when I was with her and I said I'd help. I wasn't going to break that promise and then I got her message, it had to be done now.

I see Alice going to leave and I follow her out of the room. I can feel the stares following me but I didn't explain myself, I didn't have to
Nat- ALICE, WAIT!
Alice- what?
Nat- thank you for saving her, I'm sorry for what I said
Alice- you were right and I'm pretty sure she's only been fighting for you girls. You saved her Natasha.
Nat- you should stay, she wanted to see you
Alice- I'm a wanted criminal, I don't think it would be a good look
Nat- right now, I don't care. She wanted you.

She just nods and follows me back into the medical room. Wanda smiles at us both and takes my hand leading me out of the room allowing Alice to spend some alone time with Y/N.

Wanda- you just did a very nice thing, I'm proud of you
Nat- but yet, I wish I hadn't
Wanda- why?
Nat- I don't trust her
Wanda- neither do I but if this works then we've got Y/N back
Nat- but will it actually be our Y/N? Who knows what the last two days could've done to her.
